FGNOnline now faking posts… in their forums

We reported the other day about how a “new” website (it actually closed down in 2001 and randomly re-opened recently) was reporting that Sega was planning to re-enter the hardware business with a new console in 2010. Some of you believe it, we (and many other sites) did not and still do not.
One of the more outspoken members on our site, Ryan (aka Sharky) had been going to the FGNOnline forums and was airing his views about the whole matter - saying how he did not believe the news story to be true, but in, shall we say, “a less-than-civil manner” (oh, but that’s why we love you Ryan).
Needless to say he upset the admin(s) over at FGN and was promptly IP banned from the forums. Until today, when Ryan, known as ‘Shark’ on the FGN boards made an “official” apology. Except he didn’t.

Empire: Total War teaser trailer

Today Sega/The Creative Assembly released a lovely teaser for their upcoming addition to the Total War series, Empire: Total War.
While this video may not really show much of the gameplay, this game looks pretty damn good, from the screenshots and other trailers I have seen, especially for a RTS game. Let’s hope it holds up to the other Total War games.

Initial D PS3 trailer

Check out the first trailer for Initial D: Extreme Stage on the PlayStation 3, it looks like the Arcade verion (so I hear) but that is by no means a bad thing considering this is looking pretty cool. If you are a fan of extreme drifting then this could be the game for you!
Will this come to the West? Your drift is as good as mine.
Itagaki leaves Tecmo

Head of Team Ninja, Tomonobu Itagaki the man behind some of Tecmo’s finest games such as the Ninja Gaiden series and Dead or Alive series is leaving Tecmo, oh and sueing them too! Check this out,
“I, Tomonobu Itagaki, hereby announce that on the 14th of May 2008 I filed a complaint in the Tokyo District Court against Tecmo Co., Ltd. for unpaid completion bonuses, and against the President of Tecmo, Yoshimi Yasuda, for such unlawful acts as unreasonable and disingenuous statements made towards me, claiming damages in total of 148 million yen. I also announce that this complaint was delivered to the defendants on May 22nd of the same year. In addition, I hereby announce that I have today submitted a letter of resignation to Tecmo Co., Ltd. stating that I will resign as of the 1st of July, 2008. “
You may well be asking ”What’s this got to do with Sega?”
Alpha Protocol new screens

Check out these new screen shots for Sega and Obsidians new Spy based RPG Alpha Protocol. There is a good chance you wont see these anywhere else on the internet. (Unless you are a member of the Obsidian Forums where I stole them from originally…)
Personally I’m really looking forward to this game, I like western RPGs but the Sci-Fi and Fantasy settings are starting to get boring. A spy based RPG is something I can get behind!
The game is due out next year. I Can’t wait, I just hope my PC can run it!
New Sonic Unleashed teaser

Well, that was… different.
Sega just released this short CGI teaser trailer for Sonic Unleashed and well… I’m still not exactly sure what to say about it. So what does it tell us? Well it confirms that Sonic will turn into an angry werewolf at night, It also hints at dodgy voice acting. Oh and it confirms Sonic has fingernails which I’m sure will be a hot topic on any Sonic forum I’ll never go to.
On the bright side, if the werewolf thing turns out to be crap at least the other half of the game looks awesome, the glass is half full.
Sonic Chronicles new screenshots

From one Sonic game to another, Sonic Cult has managed to get its hands on some new screenshots showing off an area in the upcoming Sonic RPG for the Nintendo DS, Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. This area is called Blue Ridge, take a look:
As you can see in the screenshots, the name fits the area well, since it is blue and full of ridges… Nice! At the risk of sounding like a weird obsessive Sonic fan, it seems humans make an appearance in this game as NPCs. I’m fine with that as long as there are animal NPCs too, it always bothers me when I’m playing Sonic games and the only intelligent life walking around the city is humans. Where are the other animals?!

Sega has released another profile trailer from their new tactical RPG, Valkyria Chronicles. This time of the big hairy manly man character Largo.
Check out this guy. I’d love to fill you in on the details, but your guess is as good as mine. I don’t know any Japanese so instead of me yapping on about it, go ahead and watch the big guy do his stuff!
