Review: Let’s Tap

Since the Wii’s release developers have been trying to incorporate the motion sensing technology in their games any which way they can think of - from simple point ‘n click-style controls or waggling Wiimote like a cretin (oh you love it really).
But none, as far as I’m aware, have based an entire game on the concept of tapping. That is the unique selling point of Let’s Tap; as the title suggests the various games are all controlled just by tapping - players lay their Wiimotes on a box or flat surface and tap, with the Wiimote picking up the strength of vibrations. But does it work?
Review: Virtua Tennis 2009

Even if some of their more recent console games have been less-than-stellar, one of the things that Sega has always been best known for is creating some cracking arcade titles. Virtua Tennis became a much loved franchise, with the first three titles seeing success on both the arcade and console systems.
But with Sega and Sumo Digital’s latest instalment to the series, Virtua Tennis 2009 has completely skipped the arcades and gone direct for the living room experience. So, bearing that in mind, has Sumo Digital managed to keep that arcade fun, while delivering a solid home console experience? Or has the franchise run its course?
Three-way Review: OutRun Online Arcade

We are a little later with this review than we had hoped and because of this we realise that many of you will have already bought the game, played it, reviewed it in some random forums and won a t-shirt. So we thought we would try something a little different with this one.
Instead of a full, in-depth, review of OutRun Online Arcade, we have three different (less in-depth) views on the game from myself (Graham), Chris and George. You might be surprised to see how different our opinions on the game turn out.
So without further ado, read our opinions on OutRun Online Arcade after the break.
Review: STORMRISE

RTS (Real-Time-Strategy) titles have always been best suited to the PC format. So it was quite interesting to hear that the ‘kings of RTS,’ The Creative Assembly (CA), were developing a new title with the console formats (360 and PS3) in mind.
Enter STORMRISE, a far step away from CA’s highly popular Total War franchise and a game that promised to redefine the RTS genre on consoles. But has it managed to do this successfully or is it another fiddly mess of RTS crap on the console systems’ shoes?
Review: Sonic and the Black Knight

Sonic and the Black Knight seems to have had a lot of controversy in the last few weeks, especially with other review sites (you know, the usual culprit).
Review: Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection

Tagged with Altered Beast, Classic, Golden Axe, Kid Chameleon, Phantasy Star, Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection, Shining Force, Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, Streets of Rage.

As you should all be aware, the Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection, or Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection if you live stateside, is a vast compilation of classic Mega Drive titles on one disc.
But is this really the “Ultimate” collection of Mega Drive titles? Or just the ultimate déjà vous?
Review: House of the Dead: Overkill
Posted by Graham. Filed under Europe, G, News, Nintendo Wii, Review. Tagged with Headstrong Games, House of the Dead Overkill, Mutants, Zombies.

As you should all be aware, House of the Dead: Overkill (Overkill from now on) is Sega’s attempt to reboot the franchise to the home console audience. As a result, this is the first HotD title not to appear in arcades and it’s also the first title not to be developed by Sega Japan’s AM team.
British developer Headstrong Games takes the lead with Overkill’s creation and has brought the franchise to the Wii platform with a whole new style. While the original arcade titles had an element of cheesey humour, through poor acting and silly/shallow plot, Overkill attempts a brand new approach with the 1970’s exploitation movie overtone.
Will this new feel deliver the same enjoyable experience the previous titles did? Or does it splatter on the floor, like so much brain meeting bullets?
Review: Sonic Unleashed (PS2 and Wii)

Sonic Unleashed on 360 marveled some with its next-gen graphics. But what about the last-gen version? Did Sonic Team put up as much care into this version as they did for its next-gen counterpart? This review covers the PS2 and Wii versions of Unleashed.

Cor, where to begin, where to begin. Well no doubt most of you will have bought, completed and written a guide for this game already. But for those still on the fence about Sonic Unleashed this is for you.
Review: Football Manager 2009
Posted by Graham. Filed under Europe, G, News, PC, Review. Tagged with 2009, Football Manager, Mac, Sports Interactive.

Football Manager is a pretty niche product. Football (Soccer) isn’t everyone’s cup of tea (though it’s possibly the most played team sport in the world), and even though football games sell very well, I’m sure a lot of you (Sega Nerds) don’t play them that much, and football management games are certainly even less appealing to many gamers out there.
That said, the franchise has continued to sell incredibly well year after year, so it must have something there which brings gamers back. This is something I decided to find out with FM2009.
