Apparently Japanese toy maker Organic will turn some of Sega’s biggest arcade hits into pocket sized toys. The cabinets in the collection are Outrun, Hang On, Space Harrier, Thunder Blade, and the super secret title  After Burner.

How big are they? Well they measure at about four inchs in length. Now we will just act like Ryo Hazuki while we collect these toys! My favorite? The Outrun one, I want it. I guess i’ll have to import it this spring.

Sega has announced that starting in August they’ll be offering downloads for Valkyria Chronicles via the Japanese Playstation Network.

Senjou No Valkyria, as the title is known in the east, will be bolstered by a total of three updates - the first being simply a download that will allow for the implementation of further downloads.

Immediately following this, however, players will have the ability to purchase and use two additional add-ons: “Hard EX Mode”, and “Edie Buntai Daisakusen”.

The first of these two is a new mode to be used in the game’s free battle arena, in which the difficulty has been amped up considerably. The second is a new episode featuring Edie, a support character from the story mode, complete with full vocal work, story elements, and skirmishes.

The paid content will cost 300 and 600 Yen, respectively.

Valkyria Chronicles is scheduled for a September release in the western regions.

Apologies are in order to everyone.

As many of you know, our forums had been down for the last few days. Unfortunately, it was completely out of our hands, as there was a hardware failure in the servers where the forums are stored.

For the more perceptive of you, you will have noticed that our forums are back up. Our resident forums “housekeeper,” TOGGI3, has the forums up and running again, but unfortunately, he was unable to recover the posts that had been made.

I’m baaaaaaaack! After having to ride the bench last week due to my bratty newborns (just kidding, I love the kiddos), I’m back in action.

This week’s Nerdcast covers all the exciting Sega news that took place throughout the week, including Sega’s official announcement for Sonic Unleashed. We also talk about what we’ve been playing this week and even touch on a rather disturbing topic during the “It Came From the Forums” segment. Oh yeah, we also reveal who won the super grand prize of Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer. But you’ll have to listen to find out who the winner is!

Light-gun games. Who hasn’t played one? It’s a simple formula, and one that can entertain people for many, many hours. Whether it be at the arcades of yesteryear or home console ports, it seems gamers will always reserve some time (or quarters) for a light-gun shooter.

Turns out SEGA feels the same way about the genre, and has thus far released two such games for the Nintendo Wii. Ghost Squad was the first, and now we have The House of the Dead 2 and 3 Return.

Nerdcast 15 - Great Success!

It’s that time of the month/year/well whenever we can be bothered really, again. It’s the Sega Nerdcast number 15.

We have something a little different for you this week, a change of hosts. After an intense weekend of Viking: Battle for Asgard psyching me up, I decided to overthrow the evil Chris and lock him in a cupboard, with only a slither of cheddar to nibble upon, and take the reigns of the show myself.

Joining me in the uprising is the super sexy Ryan and the possibly Canadian James.

Over the weekend, SEGA fans were treated to a bevy of screenshots showcasing what we can only assume to be the officially unannounced Sonic Unleashed. Though no comment has thus far been given by SEGA, fans of the Sonic franchise have been going to town with speculation, rumors, “insider” leaks, and in some instances, general muckraking.

Today Sega Nerds is going to break it down for you with an examination of the facts - No opinions, no bias, no spin.

We’ll start with the only important question in a situation such as this : What does the trailer show us to be true?
