Simon Jeffery talks about The Conduit

It seems that every time Sega makes a big deal, they have Simon Jeffery talk to IGN and ignore us. This time is no exception, here is Simon Jeffery making Sega sounding like the Wii’s savior:
“SEGA is making considerable investment in core games for the Wii. We strongly believe that games like Mad World and House of the Dead Overkill have a great place on the Wii ….. Everyone is churning out wide market and family-friendly fare for the Wii platform, but there are millions of core gamers being underserved right now – and SEGA was delighted that HVS feel the same way.”
I guess it’s true, Sega does what Nintendon’t!

Empire: Total War will be getting a special edition release, titled Empire: Total War Special Forces Edition. Sounds fancy.
What do you get in the special edition? Well you get a exclusive elite unit class and apparently neat packaging. No pricing yet.
Steamworks is set to provide server browsing and match-making. If you pre-order the game through Steam, you get Rome: Total War Gold for free. Game comes out in early February.

[Update] Rumor: Sega to publish The Conduit?
Posted by George. Filed under George, News, Nintendo Wii. Tagged with Publishing, rumor, The Conduit.

If you’ve never heard of The Conduit, its an FPS game for the Wii. It even looks rather good, something that is becoming rare on the console. There has been a lot of speculation as to who will be the publisher of the title, with (apparently) many publishers expressing their interest in the title.
High Voltage Software was meant to announce the publisher of the game during this years Nintendo’s Fall Media Summit, but due to legal/technical reasons could not. Well (I think you all know where I am going with this), some people saw a folder on Sega of America’s FTP called ‘The Conduit‘, that was removed rather quickly.
Sega has yet to respond to this news and no one got a screen capture. So this is a rumor, for the time being.
[Update:] One of the guys from Neo Gaf managed to get some screen dumps before it went down.
There is always a chance that it is a photoshop job - but it’s a bit of a weird thing to lie about. But we will still take it as a rumour until Sega announces otherwise.
MADWORLD shakes things up in California
Posted by George. Filed under George, News, Nintendo Wii, North America. Tagged with MadWorld, Politics.

This Wednesday, California will try to revive its anti-violent-video-game law through a federal court appeal. Guess what game is being used as an example? That’s right, MADWORLD.
The law will stop minors from buying violent video games. Makes me wonder, isn’t this law already in effect? According to supporters (like The Terminator), violence in video games leads to teen violence.
ITAMI bringing Sega Body Trainer to the United States

ITAMI USA announced that it will start selling Sega Body Trainer in the USA under the name Fitrainer. It’s a headset that tells you how you should exercise to get the best results.
Apparently the gadget uses the Karvonen Method to know your ideal “Training Heart Rate” (THR). The system was developed with the help of IPA and is recommended by the American College of Sports Medicine.
MADWORLD box art

Check out the cover for MadWorld, its so lacking in color! Well, we did sort of expect that. It has the RP (rating pending) logo for the ESRB tacked on, even though we all know it’s going to be a M rated game.
Plus, nothing tells parents your game has ultra violence like having blood on the cover. MadWorld will be released next year, and I can’t wait to play some man darts.

Dave Halverson wags his finger at Golden Axe: Beast Rider reviews
Posted by George. Filed under George, Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with Golden Axe Beast Rider, Shame.

Dave Halverson from Play Online reviewed Sega of America’s Golden Axe revival and gave it a 9 out of 10. This put a huge red flag for most readers due to IGN’s low score of 3.2 out of 10. Dave Halverson decided to defend his review and give other reviewers a wag of his finger.
It’s a travesty to Sega fans and gaming that such rubbish is counted on critic sites that for the most part echo the opposite opinions of real gamers.
We at Sega Nerds consider ourselves “real gamers,” so you can expect our review to be posted very soon. Something that I noticed, Gameranking for the title is at 44%, yet user reviews are at 74%. Puts into question if reviewers actually did play the game all the way.

Kotaku posted these up and I don’t really recall seeing them up on here (at least not all of them). So here they are, check out the nice water effects and bright balloons.Â
Let’s Tap and Let’s Catch will come out on December 19th in Japan, no release dates for the west announced. So who is going to import this?

The fan-made Sega Saturn PC

Check out this Sega Saturn PC, what’s cooler than having a Saturn PC? Having a portable Game Gear PC mini PC, but we are going overboard now.
It even has a modified Sega PC mouse. So awesome! I wouldn’t mind updating Sega Nerds on this.

Play Incredible Hulk and see Obama ads
Posted by George. Filed under George, Microsoft Xbox 360, News.

Obama, who, if you did not know, is running for President of the United States, has bought in-game ads for 18 games on the Xbox Live service. One of the games just happens to be Incredible Hulk. It seems to be only for the 360 version of the game and you will have be connected online to see the ads. I hate adverts, so I suggest staying offline.
According to Van Baker of a technology market research firm in San Jose, California.
“The 18-to-34-year-old male is the mainstream demographic for the hard-core video gamer. They’re hard to get to because they don’t watch much TV and they don’t read a lot, so it’s a good venue to get that segment.”
TV? Is that the box that plays my Xbox 360? Books? lol rofl strategy guides r 4 noobs!
