The other day we showed you a couple of images from the now cancelled Aliens RPG.  However, apparently a lot more concept art was released on the Obsidian forums about a month ago, just no one reported on it/ realised it.

But here it all is now, including a rather freaky looking ‘Red Queen’ (above):

Sega announces Bleach: The 3rd Phantom’s European release

Sega Europe has announced that the tactical RPG, Bleach: The 3rd Phantom, is coming to Europe.  Even though the game has been out in Japan for just over a year now and the US version due September 2009, the European version won’t arrive until early next year - bit of a long wait for European Bleach fans (if there are any).

The DS exclusive is set before the anime series and focuses on the Soul Reaper twins, Fujimaru Kudo and his sister Matsuri Kudo.  I assume Bleach fans will know who they are, because I have no idea, but apparently the title will feature other familiar characters plus some new ones created for the game.

More information in the full press release, after the break.

Sega comments on the loss of Michael Jackson

5:04pm 29 Jun '09

Unless you’ve been living in a cave you will have no doubt heard that the music legend, Michael Jackson, passed away late last week.

Sega has released an official comment on the singer’s tragic death:

“We here at Sega were very sad to hear about the passing of Michael Jackson. He was a true music legend whose songs touched each of us at some point in our lives.

“We are proud to have worked with him and included his music in some of our most well-remembered games and are sure that his genius will live on through his great body of work. We have no doubt that future generations will be moonwalking to all his greatest hits.”

In case you didn’t know, and are wondering why Sega made such a comment, in his time Michael Jackson worked with Sega on a variety of video game projects, including his own Moonwalker game, Sonic 3 and the Space Channel 5 series.

Review: Let’s Tap

8:54am 29 Jun '09

Since the Wii’s release developers have been trying to incorporate the motion sensing technology in their games any which way they can think of - from simple point ‘n click-style controls or waggling Wiimote like a cretin (oh you love it really).

But none, as far as I’m aware, have based an entire game on the concept of tapping.  That is the unique selling point of Let’s Tap; as the title suggests the various games are all controlled just by tapping - players lay their Wiimotes on a box or flat surface and tap, with the Wiimote picking up the strength of vibrations.  But does it work?

RIP Michael Jackson - Sega gaming legend

With the news of Michael Jackson’s death, it is a sad day for the music industry but also for the gaming world (albeit to a lesser extent).

While Michael Jackson is mostly famous for his music career and crazy social life, we should not forget that he was also an icon of the gaming world.

Innex bringing updated Sega Nomad-style handheld

Hardware distributor Innex Inc. is set to release an updated version of the Sega Nomad with the “Retro Gen.”  It doesn’t use the Nomad name and it doesn’t look the same, but it is officially licensed by Sega and unlike other portable Mega Drives this one will take original Mega Drive titles.

But best of all Innex is promising a special download service, also officially licensed by Sega, that will allow gamers to download classic Mega Drive/Genesis titles but also brand new licensed Mega Drive games - with their “Fire Box” technology.  Now that does sound awesome.

More information, including video after the break.

So sit back, relax and enjoy the show.

The Conduit is out in Europe July 10th and is out in the US now.

Just who are you following on Twitter?

8:44am 25 Jun '09

What with Twitter being a relatively new, trendy medium in which to hassle and obsess over your favourite stars (or indeed video game company), Sega has made it just that little bit easier for you to follow them by pointing out which of their Twitter accounts are actually real.

The official SEGA accounts are:

SEGA - Official SEGA community team for Europe and America
sonicgames - Official Sonic The Hedgehog
phantasystar - Phantasy Star
valkyriatribune - Valkyria Chronicles
totalwar - Total War series (Creative Assembly)
TheConduit - The Conduit
FootManLive - Football Manager Live
and si_games for Sports Interactive (Football Manager)

Those are the main accounts, but Sega also has a couple of other accounts they use, including a Shenmue account - which clearly needs a bigger following.  Get on it people.

There are also accounts for Virtua Tennis (virtuatennis) and Shenmue (shenmue) but these are not as active, your main ports of call on Twitter for SEGA interaction are going to be @SEGA, @sonicgames and @phantasystar.

So if you are on the Twitter bandwagon, but haven’t been sure if the Sega-related account you’ve been following is real, then just check the above list.

And if you want to follow us, we are also on Twitter - @SegaNerds - because we are just as trendy as Sega.
