Sega has announced that starting in August they’ll be offering downloads for Valkyria Chronicles via the Japanese Playstation Network.

Senjou No Valkyria, as the title is known in the east, will be bolstered by a total of three updates - the first being simply a download that will allow for the implementation of further downloads.

Immediately following this, however, players will have the ability to purchase and use two additional add-ons: “Hard EX Mode”, and “Edie Buntai Daisakusen”.

The first of these two is a new mode to be used in the game’s free battle arena, in which the difficulty has been amped up considerably. The second is a new episode featuring Edie, a support character from the story mode, complete with full vocal work, story elements, and skirmishes.

The paid content will cost 300 and 600 Yen, respectively.

Valkyria Chronicles is scheduled for a September release in the western regions.

Light-gun games. Who hasn’t played one? It’s a simple formula, and one that can entertain people for many, many hours. Whether it be at the arcades of yesteryear or home console ports, it seems gamers will always reserve some time (or quarters) for a light-gun shooter.

Turns out SEGA feels the same way about the genre, and has thus far released two such games for the Nintendo Wii. Ghost Squad was the first, and now we have The House of the Dead 2 and 3 Return.

Though no comment has thus far been given by SEGA, fans of the Sonic franchise have been going to town with speculation, rumors, “insider” leaks, and in some instances, general muckraking.

Today Sega Nerds is going to break it down for you with an examination of the facts - No opinions, no bias, no spin.

We’ll start with the only important question in a situation such as this : What does the trailer show us to be true?

Let’s get into it.

Sega to release Dino King in the U.S.

DinoKing

A few years back Sega Japan created a card-based RPG arcade game, called MushiKing, in which the player collected beetles and used the creatures to battle other beetle-collectors. The formula worked, and the game raked in the Yen.

Following this success Sega created Dinosaur King, which turned out to be a virtually identical game, only featuring dinosaurs in lieu of beetles. Well it seems Sega of America has seen fit to localize the game for a U.S. release.

Read the press release after the break.
