It’s no surprise that Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice has had a bit of a rocky development. After being announced for a summer 2015 release for the Nintendo 3DS, the game was delayed into 2016, with no specific timeframe.
Then in late February, a Sonic Boom display at the New York Toy Fair suggested it’d be released this fall, but SEGA didn’t have an official comment on its legitimacy.
However, we finally got some solid information during the Sonic 25th Anniversary panel at SXSW today in Austin. Sonic social media manager Aaron Webber announced it will finally be released on Sept. 27, 2016.
We hope Sanzaru Games will be able to meet this release date and has put the extra development time into good use!
