SEGA Amusements Europe changes its name and goes international

A recent report from SEGA has revealed that SEGA Amusements Europe, who is responsible for the company’s arcade division, is going international. According to the official press release,

SEGA Amusements Europe Ltd officially changes its name to SEGA Amusements International Ltd expanding its market to cover all reaches of the globe outside of Japan. Clarifying many months of speculation surrounding the global organizational changes at SEGA, today’s announcement reveals a great deal more about substantive changes being made to strengthen the organization, keeping it at the pinnacle of the amusement industry.

SEGA Amusements International will cover the entire globe outside of Japan while SEGA of Japan will focus their core strength on their domestic market. In addition to its new reach, SAI also states that they will be focusing on developing territory-specific products.

In addition to the global expansion, SEGA Amusements COO Paul Williams has been promoted to CEO of SEGA Amusements International and he couldn’t be happier.

We’re extremely optimistic about the future for the entire out-of-home entertainment industry. The chance to grow into these new markets presents us with exciting opportunities we fully intend on maximizing. SEGA is recognized as a leading industry entertainment company. We now have the means to leverage this valuable brand to a worldwide audience.”

I think SEGA has made the right move in giving the reigns to SEGA Amusements Europe. Hopefully, more positive changes will be seen from the blue brand in the months to come.
