Streets of Rage 2 comes in 2nd in Japanese eShop charts

Streets of Rage 2 isn’t due out in North America until July, but it’s been out in Japan since April 28, and according to Nintendo’s Japanese eShop rankings, it’s doing very well.

Bare Knuckle 2 (as it’s known in Japan) ranked second in the Japanese eShop charts, coming in only behind Shizuku Memory and beating out the likes of Xenoblade Chronicles.

Like many of the previous entries in the 3D Classics series, developer M2 has added several new features for Streets of Rage 2, most notable being the Quartet Mode, which enables you to play with each of the game’s four characters. You can find a full explanation right here.

The most recent and last arcade 3D Classics release was 3D Thunder Blade (see our review). SEGA announced plans to release several classic Genesis titles in the 3D Classics series, including Streets of Rage 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Gunstar Heroes.
