Who knew Carmen Sandiego on the SEGA Master System was such a scary game?

Some games are conceived with one main goal in mind – to scare the very essence of your soul. The “survival horror” genre of video games exists for this very purpose. But what about the genres that were never designed to scare the player?

The above video (from SegaMasterSystem.com) is a present day recollection of one of my most horrifying gaming sessions. The fact that it’s an educational children’s game is part of the reason why the Master System’s Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? chilled my 9-year-old spine to the bone.
