SEGA community manager denies Sonic 2015 rumor

Well, shit.

It appears the recent rumor of a new Sonic the Hedgehog title slated for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Wii U was too good to be true as SEGA community manager Kellie Parker claimed the information was incorrect on the company’s official forums.

“The recent information coming out of Nuremburg Toy Fair was incorrect,” she wrote. “SEGA has yet to announce details of upcoming console video games for Sonic the Hedgehog, or further details regarding the new Sonic CG TV series.”

While this particular rumor might be incorrect, we have to believe SEGA will eventually release a Sonic title on next-gen consoles … right?

Thank God! So if I’m right, we’ll have a 25th anniversary Sonic for next-gen. That just makes sense, I’m glad the rumour was fake!

You say that as if there wouldn’t be a 25th anniversary Sonic game if there is a new Sonic game in 2015. Remember that Sonic gets a new game pretty much every year and that Sonic Colours was released one year before Generations.

Doing an exception will help Sonic Team to focus more on new ideas. That’s a good thing, right?

Kind of a late response, but Sonic Team isn’t the only developer making Sonic games. Besides that, Sonic Team has multiple teams. Like, the Generations team has seemingly been making their next game since late 2011. Sonic Boom has been development since 2011 as well.
