Sonic the Hedgehog…coming to a cinema near you?

Sony Pictures have registered some new website URL names which allude that a Sonic the Hedgehog movie could be in the works. We say ‘could be’ because there still has been no official announcement from Sony Pictures regarding the following bit of news we extracted from Kotaku (link below).

According to Kotaku,  the following domain names: sonicthehedgehog-movie.com, sonicthehedgehog-movie.net and sonicthehedgehogmovie.net have been registered, strongly implying that Sony has acquired the film rights from SEGA and that Sonic could soon be coming to the big screen as a full-blown animated movie. We say ‘animated’ because that’s what we regard to be the most likely course since Sonic is a blue anthropomorphic hedgehog. Having real life actors portraying Sonic and his friends would just be…um, weird.
