Sega and Takao Miyoshi launch a countdown page
Posted by George. Filed under George, Japan. Tagged with Countdown, Takao Miyoshi game.

Sega just launched a count down page, similar to Prope’s page a few months back.
If you can’t tell by the picture, the game will be produced by Sega’s Takao Miyoshi (Phantasy Star Universe). Seeing the pixel mushroom and the current Sega of Japan trend, I would not be surprised if its a Nintendo DS game.
Post any information you guys happen to find on your searches, I’ll be sure to update this story when I get news. So stay tuned.

I didn’t say that at all in the post, I said pixel mushroom as in old school game and Sega of Japan trend (see 7th Dragon had a old school vibe and all the other DS games coming out.)
What do you think its going to be on? It was just a guess.
Kogen, I think deep down inside you think Nintendo invented Mushrooms and pixels.

Mario-esque mushroom + Sonic’s colouring
Mario + Sonic water already tested with somewhat successful results
Yep, wouldn’t surprise me. Just make it a 2D platform game.

You mean “So stay tuned”. Not stay tune; that makes no sense.

Looks a lot like a miniature version of a Space Harrier mushroom to me. It even ’scales’ a bit!
It’s a visual metaphor for how a videogame company once loved by millions of hardcore home and arcade gamers have dumbed themselves down to cater for casuals.
A new Space Harrier on any modern machine COULD be fantastic. Unfortunately Planet Harriers was slow, the PS2 Space Harrier remake was feeble, and almost every other revival that Sega attempts is turning out to be disastrous. I hope that the franchise will be left alone unless Yu Suzuki is in charge of it.

Comparing the Mario mushroom to this, I have to say that it’s most similar to that than in any other game. The stem of the mushroom is a little bulby, like in the Mario games. Plus, the starting location of the stem shade is in the exact same position, with almost the same pixel layout. But I do note that the cap of the mushroom is different. However, knowing that, it’s way too similar to the Mario mushroom.

It’s for Mushroom Manager 2009. Buy your equipment, control the quality of your product, hunt for wild mushrooms (side mission, totally optional but the money is verrry good, just don’t mix edible and poisonous mushrooms, they can look quite similar sometimes)… Mushroom Manager 2008 was a big succes last year in North Japan…

I agree with Zip, it does look kinda similar to the Space Harrier Mushrooms.

The “u” in “produce” links to this now, for some reason:
http://u-can.sega.jp/

Thats not all Angelo,
T links to Lets Tap (on ‘Talao’)
C links to Lets Catch (on ‘Coming’)
However I am quite sure that Miyoshi san was not part of the development for any of these games.
I cannot see any links other then all are on Nintendo consoles.

Yeah, those weren’t clickable before: it looks like more letters “unlock” as time goes on. Maybe it’s indirectly revealing more staff members who are involved? Tap/Catch are Prope games, aren’t they?

The U now goes to http://u-can.sega.jp/ (in produce).
As of this post, The P in produce seems to be a locked button (the cursor changes on mouseover). This also seems true of the Sega logo.

Hmm, I seem to have missed the fact that the U was already noticed. My mistake there.
