[Update] Sega Europe asks what your favourite Sega console is

Sega Europe has just added a new poll to their Facebook page, “What’s your favourite SEGA console?”

But before anybody gets excited and starts saying “Omg! Sega is planning on releasing a new machine!” - apparently this poll is just for fun, and curiosity.

Well I guess polls are pretty fun.  At the time of writing the Dreamcast is a clear winner, with 50% of the votes, and it seems like there are no votes for the Master System.  It’s a tough choice, I pretty much love all of the systems (although Master System is my easily my least favourite).

Anyway, if you want to help show your appreciation for a particular Sega console, then you can check out the poll over at Sega Europe’s Facebook page.

[Update: A very decent little update here, Sega Europe has also posted an article about this poll (mentioning us - yey!) and if you go to the Sega Europe blog post (not Facebook) and leave a comment, stating what your favourite Sega console is, you can win a lovely little Sega goodie bag!]

Does Sega really not know what its most popular console is? Of course it’s hands down the Dreamcast. Nearly all gamers our age fell in love with the Dreamcast and were as heartbroken as one could be when Sega discontinued the console.

It will forever live on as the greatest console with the best library that never achieved its true potential. It was taken away from us long before we were ready to give it up.

I think that’s the main reason why gamers still love the Dreamcast.

I absolutely loved my Sega Saturn. Course, I loved all Sega courses, but I played on my Saturn a lot more than my MegaDrive.

But the Dreamcast remains my all time favourite console. I get into arguments daily about why it’s so awesome :O

I’m going to go with the Master System. I may be showing my age, but I was in Jr. High when it came out (along with the NES) and I loved the SMS more. Everyone else was playing Super Mario Brothers, I was playing Space Harrier and Alex Kidd in Miracle World. For the sake of Nostalgia, I will go with the SMS, but I remember being blown away by the Genesis when it came out.

None.

I’m a Sony girl, not a SEGA girl. I may have started with Sonic, but I’ve had a lot more time with the PS1.

My mouse pointer kept hovering over the Genesis and Saturn options, but in the end I had to opt with the former. Such a hard poll!

Difficult survey.
My first console was a master system then I enjoyed The Megadrive with the MegaCD2 and finally the Saturn.
I did not liked the Dreamcast that much, I do not really know why, certainly the games were not for my taste.

So for me the Saturn is a clear winner, I still play it and discover new good japanese games all the time (they are so cheap actually).

1. Saturn
2. Genesis
3. Master System
4. Dreamcast
5. Game Gear
6. SEGA CD
7. SEGA 32X

I love my Dreamcast, but I don’t see how anyone can rank it ahead of SEGA’s other three home consoles.

The Saturn is easily the best console of all time if you can play games from both the US and Japan on it. So many great fighters, RPGs, and SHMUPs.

The Genesis is too awesome for words. Its war with the SNES was legendary and the system’s library is probably the most complete of any SEGA system. It had something for everyone.

Not enough people in America have played a Master System. It found its base in South America and certain parts of Europe. But man, it was an outstanding system.

The Dreamcast, while one of my favorite consoles, was easily SEGA’s worst stand-alone home consoles. It had the smallest commercial library, the smallest lifespan, the least amount of classic SEGA franchises represented, and the worst third-party support.

The Game Gear was a great little handheld, even if it devoured batteries simply by being in the same room as them.

The SEGA CD and 32X were a little disappointing, but both had some great games. The SEGA CD with Snatcher, Lunar, Sonic CD, Prince of Persia, Shining Force, and some great shooters. The 32X had Chaotix, Tempo, and Kolibri among a few others in an otherwise forgettable library.

But I love all my SEGA consoles.

The Dreamcast had some fantastic games, but it was more like an arcade machine than Sega’s other consoles.

The Mega Drive and Saturn, in particular, were excellent for RPGs. Shining Force 3 and Panzer Dragoon Saga alone were worth owning a Saturn for.

Tough call. I LOVE the Saturn, but Dreamcast is pretty great. Of course, I have fond memories of my Genesis too.

I guess I’ll go with the Saturn. Dreamcast is a very close second. I love my Game Gear and my Genesis equally…for now.

Megadrive and Saturn, with a fully explored AAA library..enough said.

DC was just Capcoms bitch and home to one of the best dungeon crawlers ever made…good bitch I might add lol

Saturn, because it was my first, and that one you’ll never forget. After that, the Dreamcast with the awesome games very closely followed by the MegaDrive.
