Sonic Unleashed: Wii and PS2 versions have less levels

A recent scan of Sonic Unleashed‘’s strategy guide for the Wii and PS2 shows us that these versions of the game won’t be getting two levels included in the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions. Those two levels are Empire City and Mazuri.

Check out the content listed from the strategy guide below, though I swear I have read about this a few months ago. Am I imagining things?

Yeah dude, you totally read about this a few months ago. I’ve been anticipating it. Reason #182 why the PS2 sucks, and reason #1 why I don’t want it on my Wii. Reason #2 is because my Wii’s only real use around here is to hold down my important papers!

Zingah!

You guys ever consider memory issues and it is 4 games they are working and polishing up differentially? Do you guys think porting and coding is that easy??
Look guys, if this game is as polished as it looks, lets just be happy. I heard pas3 and 360 have lag issues that actually hinder the player from playing right; Now that! I am worried about.

What is more interesting is that this shows the game has Classic and Gamecube controller support.

Even though they are the same areas, the levels themselves for the Wii/PS2 and PS3/360 versions are different enough to warrant them being seen as different games. Even some of the gameplay elements between the two are really different.

I just get the impression that this at heart is a 360/ps3 game, and that it was ported only because of the wii’s popularity. Sonic and the Dark Knight will be a title that actually takes FULL ADVANTAGE of the wii.

I was going to get this for my 360 anyway, but after hearing the Wii version can support a GCN controller, I might have to get it as well. (After a price drop though.)

Hey, wait a second! I think I can see Mazuri a couple of times in the picture! Could that mean that only Empire City will be cutted off?

No… wait, wait again, in fact it is in the list! Just look at the “Appendix - Gaia Gate Doors” and in “Restore the First Continent”!

The only one that doesn’t appear is Empire City

If the framerate issues are ironed out for the 360/PS3 versions, I can’t fathom why anyone would choose to get the Wii version.

The Wii has its advantages, to be sure. But most games (Unleashed included) don’t play to them.

Leave this one to the big boys, little fella.

P.S. I’d like to apologise to those gamers in attendance who own only a Wii. I’d like to apologise… But seriously. What were you thinking?

I’d like to apologize to those gamers who only own a ps3 or 360. What were you thinking?

While reading this hurt momentarily, I really wanted to play Empire City and I only have a PS2, I realized that I will be (A) saving $20 on the retail version of the game and (B) will be saving $300+ by not buying a 360 or PS3 for a few games that I really want to try. So in the end, the loss of two levels and saving $320+ is fine by me.

Is this omission even confirmed for the PS2? This is the Wii guide, maybe the PS2 has .5 more of a level?

Don’t think so. As far as I know, the PS2 version is a port from the Wii version. (At last!)

Noooo. ;_; I was very much looking forward to playing the Empire City level. I looked at the official Sonic Unleashed website, and it said nothing about that level being unavailable on my platform. It /did/ mention Mazuri though, so I was feeling rather optimistic….until now. *sigh*

Barry has a point though; at least I’m saving $320. :/ Still a great game in my opinion.
