Rumor: Sega making a new Outrun with THQ?
Posted by George. Filed under George, Multi-platform, Worldwide. Tagged with outrun, outrun online, rumor.

Australia’s Office of Film & Literature Classification board has issued ratings for Outrun Online. The title was listed as a multi-platform release.
That isn’t the shocking part, it seems they have Sega listed as publisher and THQ as the author and producer. Maybe Sega is letting THQ use some of their old IPs?
I hope not. This isn’t the first time THQ has made and published some old Sega IPs, they have released several on the Gameboy Advance, like Crazy Taxi.

Didn’t THQ make JSR, Space Channel 5, and another DC era game for GBA? Crazy Taxi, maybe?
Either way, they weren’t that great.
If this is true and THQ does a poor job I’ll be simply confused, considering Sumo Digital handled the OutRun license perfectly.

THQ did those GBA games? There wasn’t a Crazy Taxi though….that I know.
How bad were they? A GBA Jet Grind Radio sorta sounds horrible to me, but how can you screw up a portable Space Channel 5?

I don’t care what anyone says, I LIKED those GBA games. I played the crap out of JGR on GBA. Now, Crazy Taxi wasn’t all that good and they should have made it from a birds eye view, but they did pull off some sweet graphics on it.

i hope this is like a port to like xbla and psn or something with online play added so that is all thq is doing, that or that the thq thing is a lie and its a new outrun here to be awesome.

@Gamerschoice:
I kind of agree with you. My mate had JSR on the GBA, I only got to play about 5 mins of it - but what I played wasn’t that bad.
Yeah no patch on the Dreamcast or Xbox games, but I think a lot of people unfairly trashed the game. Unless it gets really bad later on or something.

Why would they let THQ make an outrun game? Why? Sega America clearly have no respect for Sega classic IPs they are happy to give any old IP to any old and usually shit developer to run it into the ground…
How many times do we have to see this happen? Fuck Sega America.

THQ & Sega have had strong relations since the GBA days and I am glad to see them maintaining the love despite the fact that there is a Sega Australia now.

I was going to say CHU CHU ROCKET on GBA was great, but it seems to be published by Sega:
