Sega has decided to give Valkyria Chronicles a televised anime adaptation in Japan. The anime will be done by by A-1 pictures, a studio funded by Sony.

The studio is known for their work on Persona Trinity Soul and Birdy Decode. The anime will be released in Spring of 2009, about a year after the game originally came out.

Now will this anime get a western release? I wouldn’t hold my breath.

And who wants dubbed anime anyway? lol
Just let’s hope a decent fansub translates it.

I might be confusing games here, but is this one going to have awkward homosexual relationships too?

Sounds cool, sucks that it’s from a studio paid by sony. Personally, I thought that Jet Set Radio would make a great anime.

lol look at air gear its the closest thing to a jet set radio anime will get.

A-1 has decent animation from what i’ve seen. tetsuwan birdy : DECODE was very nicely done.

Taco Lord, I agree. JGR/JSR would make a fantastic animated show.

If they can license and bring over those awful Xenosaga and Disgaea animated series, someone will surely bring this over. Maybe.

Hell, the Sakura Taisen anime got released in the west and it’s the GAMES that were never brought over. Then again, that was brought out back before the anime bubble burst…

I have read and watched Air Gear and I would have to disagree with you Solace. Air Gear and Jet Set Radio work on two totally different parallels. Air Gear bends and always breaks physics while trying to be informative and Jet Set Radio may bend the rules but not too much. Air Gear is also a power series like DBZ while JSR is not. This would be comparing cooking animes like Yakitate!! Japan to Addicted to Curry, both cooking but different worlds.

If there ever would be a JSR animated series, the company that would fit the bill would be the studio that made FLCL.

Sorry about the rant, but I didn’t even think about the animation company being the one who also made Birdy Decode. They would be good for making a Burning Rangers anime!

Taco Lord I never said they were the same, I just said it was the closest thing to one that we’d get as i doubt they will ever make one.

although the soundtrack from airgear was obviously influenced by the JSR series, they even have a track called “NOT Hummin’ BUT Vibin (Hommage Of Humming The Bassline-)” as stated in the name of the song its a hommage to humming the bassline from JSR.

Gainax? The ones that made Evangelion with the help of SEGA and then sold the rights to some other company? Yeah, I’d like them too, away from my SEGA though I love their work.
