Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles released for Dreamcast

This kind of crept up on us, Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles, a new Dreamcast title developed by Yuan Works and published by redspotgames, has been released.

I’m a bit  confused on the dates, as Play-Asia says it was released yesterday (Nov. 10th), Yuan Works says on November 1st and redspotgames is saying November 5th.  But whatever the case, the game is out now!

For those that don’t know, Wind and Wateris a puzzle game that was first released on the GP2X, but now it has (finally) arrived on our beloved Dreamcast console with plenty of added extras - as the website mentions:

“For those familiar with the original GP2X version, we’ve added tons of new features for the Dreamcast version, including: the new Mr. VMU character and dialogues, the new Danger Break system, faster and more accurate gameplay, new Computer Difficulty Levels, fully dual-language packaging and game software (English and Japanese), new artwork and design for the Manual and Packaging, a new ending, rebalanced 2-player battles, tons of new graphics, high-quality CD Soundtrack music with new songs, arcade stick support for the Dreamcast, and much more (but we don’t want to spoil everything)!”

~For some reason just looking at the disc makes me want to buy this~

While screenshots make the game seem like a standard puzzle game, from what I have read (and videos seen) it looks like it is so much more than the average ‘jewel matching’ affair.  Hopefully we will be able to get our hands on a copy, and give you all our full impressions.

But if you can’t wait (and there’s no guarantee we will get a copy), be sure to order a copy of the game from Play-Asia.  Or if you want to read up on the finer details (plus see plenty of screens and videos) of the game, check out the official website.

This is really cool in all, but who is making side shooters on the DC. Last hope was sad attempt, and the DC has great potential to grow into sideshmup-home for a while.

We need some talented fans in the homebrew community to tackle this sorta thing.
This puzzle game is neat idea, but nothing im going to starving to play, while im out with my friends.

Tough times my friends, though times! the game better be KICK ASS! if i can only choose one game every 3 months.

@ Lauger Castillo - the link to where to buy is in the article. The website is http://www.play-asia.com it’s based in Hong Kong, but ships worldwide.

Yes new Dreamcast games are still being made - but only one or two every so often - unfortunately it’s not monthly releases like in the good old days.
Most of the games are reasonably basic - very few use 3D visuals, and a lot of them tend to be scrolling shooters.

Hope that helps some. Remember Play-Asia.

@BitMaster - You might want to hold out for DUX then. It’s a shooter - and should be released this December.

Why didn’t you post this when I posted this in the forum?

Why did you not mention DUX?

Unbelieveable. Sega systems are still alive. We have new releases for the Genesis every once in a while and the Dreamcast is still going. It almost makes me want to throw down the gauntlet and program a new Daytona game.

Just remember now, since this is a homebrew game (note the lack of Dreamcast official branding), it will NOT work on Model 3 Dreamcasts. Only model 1 and some model 2 will be able to run this one. I forgot how to check to see which one you have. Also, since it’s CD-ROM and not GD-ROM, there’s a chance it might wear out the Dreamcast laser faster. Just a heads-up for you all.
