You might recall a few days ago we reported that the Japanese 360 and PS3 versions of Sonic Unleashed were to be delayed until Spring 2009.  Reports had suggested that the delay was due to technical concerns and they wanted to “improve the quality of the game.

Questions were raised about whether the game would also be delayed in Europe and America too? And if the Western versions were not delayed, would that mean that Western gamers would not be able to experience the “improvements” made to the Japanese version?

Well Sega has responded to the concerns:

“To Sonic fans living outside Japan: Previously we informed you that the release date of Sonic World Adventure (Sonic Unleashed) in Japan on PS3 and 360 will be delayed.

Based on that announcement, some fans living overseas have become concerned that there will be a difference in quality between the version of the game released in Japan and the version released outside of Japan. This is not the case and we apologise for this misunderstanding.

“The difference in the international release dates is based on the sales strategy and the manufacturing schedule. There will be no quality difference between the North American/European/Asia release and the Japanese version. Please be assured we are doing our best to deliver a top quality experience to people all over the globe..”

We still cannot announce the release date in Japan, but we should be able to do so shortly. Our apologies to Sonic fans in Japan, who we must ask to wait a while longer

Sonic Unleashed is still due for release (in the UK) on November 28th on 360, Wii and PS2, with the PS3 version arriving in December.

Which Sega released this announce?

No delay,”now”, but, if I’m not wrong, there was a date change to the western release date previously.

Sega(in Japan) said that the delay was due to improve quality on the game.

Someone is lying on it…

Also, as far as I can remember, this game was planned to be released in 2009 since the beggining…

I say:

Delay all versions, in all regions to February. I kinda dont have time with Sonic right now, to much games this fall, and i still have to catch up with the september releases.

At least they aren’t repeating history.

The American and European versions of Sonic Adventure were good games. The Japanese version was full of bugs. I know, because I’ve tried to play it. At one point I threw down my controller in frustration (when, 80% of the way through the game, it decided to erase my save and send me back to the title screen).

So, instead of making amends and issuing updated discs, what did Sega do? Release Sonic Adventure “International” forcing Japanese customers to re-buy the game.

Arguably, that alone was one of the top ten reasons Dreamcast failed… their launch hit title ticked off half of their home country’s core audience.

If they have to delay it for quality concerns in one region, why not all? And now, they’re saying that it’s not due to quality concerns? Then what’s the problem? Too many good games being released in Japan around Christmas? I sincerely doubt it unless SquareEnix or some of RPG factory has 7 releases of slight variation for them to buy.
Oh well, screw them. If this game is crappy, I will not buy another Sonic game for more than $20.00 ever again. DO YOU HEAR ME SEGA?!?!???!?!?!??

Hmm while im still concerned the Japanese are going to be a getting a more polished off version, ill do my best to swallow my concern and go with what SEGA is saying.
i mean, who am i? Not the business half thats for sure.

as Sonic has so painfully said in past games “Well, you must have your reasons” *shiver*

No difference in quality between regions, eh? I think we’ll let the voice acting speak for itself.

They may have both English and Japanese voice acting, Though this may be the first time I neglect on Japanese voice acting for a Sonic game(I have neglected on Japanese voice acting in Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles just to hear the alternative version of the famous Richter/Dracula speech)

@ Max Chain

All Sonic voice acting is horrible, regardless of region. I also heard that his game will have both languages (English and Japanese), so I don’t think it matters.
