Sega Deals: Sonic Unleashed going cheap in the UK too
Posted by Graham. Filed under News.

We reported yesterday that Amazon was selling Sonic Unleashed at a discounted price. But (mentioned in our update) the deal is effectively over, as Amazon has run out of stock.
Good news for those wanting a decent price for Sonic’s latest adventure, and you live in the UK, as Asda has some pretty great prices for the game.
All the versions for the game have had their prices slashed. Plus they are still in stock, and there is free shipping too!:
- Wii - £24.41
- Xbox 360 - £29.93
- PS2 - £12.91
- PS3 - £29.91

[UPDATE: It seems that the deal is over at Amazon, they have SOLD OUT! Meaning that the copies in stock are being sold by Target.]
Check out Sega’s Hot Wheels

You can now get your hands on Sega’s 2003 set of Hot Wheels, if you missed them like the rest of us. I personally didn’t even know these things existed.
There are five cars released in total. The titles that got the spot light were Space Channel 5, House of the Dead, Shinobi, Super Monkey Ball, and Jet Set Radio Future.
I’m in for the Space Channel 5 pedo van.

Seaman creator to make spinoff for iPhone
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, Japan, News, Video, iPhone/iPod. Tagged with Gabo, Seaman, Yoot Saito.
It seems the creator of the cult Dreamcast classic (and a game I am yet to play), Seaman and (for the PS2) Seaman 2, Yoot Saito is creating a quasi-spinoff of the series on the iPhone, entitled Gabo.
Not many details have come out yet, but the game appears to be using a similar character to that of Seaman 2, a caveman/monkey person and instead of talking to the ’seaman,’ players use the iPhone’s touch screen to interact with it.
I’m not sure if this game is actually being published or developed by any Sega team though. The news originallly came from Yoot’s own personal blog, in the form of some truly awful broken English translation.
It seems the game will be released in Japan first, but Yoot confirms that there are plans for a worldwide release. Hurrah!
One last thing to do: “Gabo, Gabo! GABO!” (Simpsons fans should appreciate that).

REZ reduced for XBLA ‘Black Friday’
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, Microsoft Xbox 360, News, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with America, Black Friday, PSN, Rez, Sonic Unleashed, Thanksgiving, Theme, XBLA.

For all you US living people, today is ‘Black Friday’ - the day after Thanksgiving. Well you should all know that, I’m letting the rest of the world know the score.
Black Friday is normally the day where people rush to the shops for some crazy sales, and this year the sales have reached the online stores, XBLA and PSN.
The bad news is that these sales are only available for US Xbox/PS3 owners and not everything is reduced, plus there is not a great deal of Sega content in the sales.
But the good news is that one of XBLA best games, REZ has been reduced from 800 points to 500 points. Definitely worth it for such a cracking title. Also Sega-related is the new Sonic Unleashed theme, down from 250 points to 180 points.
You might be wondering about any Sega stuff on PSN, but (after scratching my head for a while) I don’t think Sega has actually released anything on PSN - at least not anything that you pay for. And I certainly didn’t see anything in the PSN sales list by Sega.
If you want to check out what else is on the XBLA Black Friday list, check out Major Nelson’s blog.

Happy 10th Anniversary Dreamcast!

Yes it has been 10 years since the Dreamcast was first launched in Japan, November 27th 1998. One of the most tragic consoles in history, mainly because it failed to capture the audience of gamers world wide, yet it still continues to hold a place in many hearts, keeping up with such a huge fan base 10 years on.
[Update] Sega Europe asks what your favourite Sega console is
Posted by Graham. Filed under Europe, G, News. Tagged with Dreamcast, Facebook, Fan Stuff, Game Gear, Master System, Mega Drive, Poll, Saturn.

Sega Europe has just added a new poll to their Facebook page, “What’s your favourite SEGA console?”
But before anybody gets excited and starts saying “Omg! Sega is planning on releasing a new machine!” - apparently this poll is just for fun, and curiosity.
Well I guess polls are pretty fun. At the time of writing the Dreamcast is a clear winner, with 50% of the votes, and it seems like there are no votes for the Master System. It’s a tough choice, I pretty much love all of the systems (although Master System is my easily my least favourite).
Anyway, if you want to help show your appreciation for a particular Sega console, then you can check out the poll over at Sega Europe’s Facebook page.
[Update: A very decent little update here, Sega Europe has also posted an article about this poll (mentioning us - yey!) and if you go to the Sega Europe blog post (not Facebook) and leave a comment, stating what your favourite Sega console is, you can win a lovely little Sega goodie bag!]

428 receives a perfect score in Famitsu
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, Japan, News, Nintendo Wii. Tagged with 428, Chunsoft, Famitsu, Perfect Score, Visual Novel.

It seems that Sega’s talent for releasing good games isn’t totally gone, as the latest issue of Famitsu tells us. 428 ~Fuusa Sareta Shibuya de~ scored a perfect 40 points in Japanese publication.
Unfortunately the game in question won’t likely ever be released outside of Japan, due to some heavy use of the Japanese language, and it’s a pretty niche product, something that only Japanese gamers seem to go for.
It’s the Dreamcast 2… sort of
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, Japan, News, PC, Retro. Tagged with Dreamcast, Fan Stuff.

Ok it’s not actually a Dreamcast 2 at all, but instead it is a Dreamcast shell, with PC insides. This lovely little invention was made by the Tokyo PC shop, Tsukumo, who also created the Saturn PC we reported on recently.
Sega brings karaoke on-the-go to Japan
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, Japan, News. Tagged with Hitokara, Karaoke, Sega Toys.

Only in Japan would they be crazy enough about karaoke for someone to think: “Hey wouldn’t it be great if we could do it anywhere, at any time?”
Sega Toys has given them the answer with the Hitokara Home Karaoke machine.
