Platinum Games reworking MADWORLD controls

MADWORLD

According to Joystiq, Platinum Games is currently working on fine tuning the controls for the upcoming blood-fest MADWORLD.

The announcement came at at Nintendo’s Fall Media Summit, where the Joystiq crew were happy to find MADWORLD running on two kiosks, but were soon disappointed to hear that they would not be able to play the game, just yet.

Instead, Sega reps informed us that the game is currently undergoing some fundamental changes to its control scheme and that, well, they basically didn’t want us to play it in its current state.

This could mean one of two things.  Either Platinum Games is having issues getting the Wii motion controls working correctly (which is not a first for any games company) - which would be a worry.  Or, maybe Platinum Games has decided to change the way the game controls, and the builds running right now won’t reflect any other versions further down development.

Who knows? In any case, the game still sounds like it is going to be a blast to play.

Someone urged Sega’s testers to show off the most over-the-top move they could think of, so we were treated to a gameplay sequence wherein an enemy was restrained with a tire, skewered through the head with a stopsign post, then cleaved in twain by the main character’s chainsaw. We also got a peek at the chainsaw in action while riding a motorcycle down the side of a building and along a highway at innapropriate speeds. A sequence which, again, made us even more steamed that we couldn’t grab the controls and try it ourselves.

Let’s hope any ‘reworking’ of the controls makes the game play as good as it looks.

I’ve been really worried about the game and this does not help at all. =(

That shouldn’t worry anybody, thats a good sign. I wish somebody would have done the same with Sonic 06.

Actually, the fact that the developers are willing to re-vamp a weak portion of the game should give you a bit of confidence. Development studios that don’t have any inward constructive criticism usually end up making poor games.

That is the thing with Capcom designers they aren’t afraid to scrap an 80% complete game, if it isn’t up to the developers expectation, they have higher expectations with their games then the fans.

If Sega had these rules then Sega would still be a AAA developer.

You shut the fuck up, I am entitled to my own opinion and besides I am talking about a company not your girl friend so stop getting defensive.

I love SEGA like a girlfriend, so yes, it hurt.

That’s funny, because Capcom has no standards. While SEGA still produces great games. But I guess if you enjoy rehashes or crap games, you could say Capcom is AAA.

Ahahaha, considering Capcom a AAA developer and not SEGA is a great joke, almost had me going there, good one! I almost thought you were considering Lost Planet and Dead Rising AAA games and not Valkyrie Chronicles, Yakuza or Virtua Fighter, heck if you consider Lost Planet and Dead Rising caliber games as AAA games, I’m sure you shall not object to thinking SEGA Race TV and NiGHTS as AAA games either.

Cube is a AAA retard. True story.

I….I love Lost Planet.

Also Cube, why are you always so negative?

“I…I love Lost Planet”

No objection to that, but is it a game you would consider a AAA game?

Could they be re-working it because of wii+ too?

Well I wouldn’t know how to exactly classify an AAA game anyway. Just saying it was really cool.

But keep in mind, I’m not agreeing with Cube.

You know something? I’M GAY FOR SEGA!!! There, I said it. I’m not gay for anything else, just Sega.

Anyway, getting to the point, I hope what they’re doing is incorporating Wii Motion Plus into the game. Then again, I haven’t see whether the Nunchuck will plug into the Motion Plus, but if it does, then hey hey!
