Play four new EA titles on Tec Toy’s Mega Drive 3
Posted by George. Filed under George. Tagged with Genesis, MegaDrive.

Tec Toy has released a new Mega Drive over at Brazil, called the Mega Drive 3, even though we already had one by the same name. But unlike the one released before, this one has 86 built in games. Four being brand new EA titles, I use the word new here loosely. The titles released are:
- Need for Speed: Pro Street
- Fifa 08
- The Sims
- Sim City
It seems that Tec Toy got a license from EA to port their mobile games on to their MegaDrive 3. I don’t like to play mobile games or EA games much, so I’ll skip this one. But I guess we can say that the Sega Genesis is still alive, what about the Super Nintendo?

yeah i thought this was pretty interesting when i read about this earlier. The genesis is easily my favorite system but i don’t ever see me buying one of these remodels i’m more interested in those little portable megadrives with games on them. Has anyone had experience with those i’d like to make sure there decent before i blow 40-45 bucks on one.

The one thing that really bugs me is how none of these new models (incuding handhelds) allow for cartridge use.
I reckon TecToy would sell much more around the world if they released a model with built in games and a cartridge slot!
Or if they did something like the old Sega Channel. Like had a device which could download games from the Internet (legally).

that would be really cool if you could download the games i actually think is a remodel that has downloaded and games built in but it has problems with some cartridges. The downloading would be really useful for the handhelds since a cartridge slot would add alot of buldge.

You know, there might be a way to install a cartridge slot on one of those. With the Atari Flashback 2, you can install a slot and choose whether to play carts or the built-in games. It’s really just a matter of time to see if anyone with the technical prowess does it.
I’m interested in seeing the Genesis versions of these EA games. That sounds like fun.

Two words: No, and NO.
The graphics are fine, but the sound quality is scratchy and awful. And, if you live in a PAL territory, you’re stuck with 50hz (borders top-and-bottom, plus slower gameplay and sound).
I bought one as a novelty, but apart from plugging it in to test out, I haven’t touched it since.

well thats too bad i don’t live in a PAL territory but what do you mean by that are you talking about the blaze version are the other ones better quality or something? I’ll probably wait til a site has a sale or something now so i won’t end up disappointed.

I bought the new handheld version with built-in games of the Genesis, pure crap.
Some games freeze randomly (Alex Kidd, Ristar, Golden Axe …).
In the other hand I also bought the remake of the Megadrive: http://gameclash.org/article.php3?id_article=106
Cheap and not too bad: http://www.play-asia.com/SOap-23-83-ie5-71-6z-77-8-49-fr-15-atgames+megadrive-84-j-70-2sf4.html

Yeah I think the AtGames one looks quite good - mainly because it allows cartridges to plud in. Though I hear that they are not always perfect.

Yes, you can at least forget the EA cartridges.
AtGames is planning to release 3 new cardridges for the system (they are called RedKid).
One of these cartdriges will contain Ristar (I like this game) and 8 other titles.

All I can say right now is that they are working on it.
AS TO THESE NEW GAMES… FUCK YEAH
does anyone think it’s possible to remove the Rom images from the system’s internal memory? That would be pretty good also
