[UPDATE: I have finally managed to upoload the video to MegaVideo - which allows you to watch it in full (without needing to download anything). So everyone can watch it easily now! However, if you wish to download this video, you can do so by visiting the original upload, here]

Perhaps later than I had wanted, but here it finally is!  The Summer of Sonic Highlights video and photographs.  This is for everyone who wanted to come, but couldn’t make it to the event.

As well as some truly great performances from Richard Jacques, TJ Davis and Lee Brotherton, the Summer of Sonic event had a lot of great highlights.

Now, the above video is pretty damn long (about 45mins) but a lot of it is filled with stuff I just didn’t have the heart to cut out - like the Sonic Quiz.  So, in order to preserve the sanity of most of you, what I have done is broken down a time scale of the video.  So if you want to skip forward to an event, you can do so (by sliding the time bar).

The time scale, plus more details and loads of pictures taken from the event are all after the break.

Summer of Sonic: Highlights Video Time Scale

Lots of friendly people, hanging out, talking about parts of Sonic’s history that I didn’t have a clue about and just generally having fun.  While I wasn’t able to capture all the classic moments, like Sonic the Hedgehog getting his head stuck in a door (a real “Kodak moment” there), I hope I managed to catch some of the camaraderie the event held, in the above video and images below.

I would also suggest reading this lovely post that Svend Joscelyne (one of the main organisers) wrote up about the show, and how friendly it was.

Event Photos

The show, on the whole, was a pretty fun event, and (as I have said) everyone was really friendly. There was a lot of love in that room, be it for each other or the big blue guy - but it was there nevertheless. I should take this time to mention, and thank, the main people behind the show:

Kevin “ArchAngel” Eva (Organiser/Host), Svend Joscelyne (Organiser/Host), Urtheart (Security/ General hardworker), T-Bird (DJ/Sonic Quiz Master), The guys from Sonic Cage Dome (Helping set the Sonic 2 records), Rory Joscelyne (”Rapper”), Roarey Racoon (Artist/ Art Contest Judge), Elson “Darkspeeds” Wong (Artist/ Art Contest Judge/ Most hyperactive person I have ever seen), Violet (Artist/ Art Contest Judge), Nigel Kitching (Artist/Writer on “Sonic the Comic”), Richard Jacques (Performer), Lee Brotherton (Performer), TJ Davis (Performer), The other DJs (Supplying the hall with fantastic Sonic music all day), & Sonic the Hedgehog! (Hopefully that’s everyone, sorry if I missed you out)

That’s it I guess. Roll on Summer of Sonic 2009! [Extra thanks to my friend Mat - for taking the photos]

I downloaded the video and will watch it tomorrow since it’s somewhat late.

I hate Veoh, btw. I hope it doesn’t install malware, Mr G!

@Orta - It shouldn’t install any Malware.

BUT as it is quite annoying that people need to watch this on VeohTV - I am in the process of uploading to MegaVideo.
Because it’s quite a big/long file the more popular places like YouTube and Google Video won’t allow me to upload there.

-Which is why I originally chose Veoh. But I just remembered MegaVideo, which also allows for large file uploads. So (fingers crossed) I should have the video up in that format sometime today (all depending on upload speeds).

So, I like the idea but I’m not compelled to go to something like this…

There should be a ‘Summer of SEGA’ which I might even fly across to England even with the ungodly price of flying out of the Channel Islands to go and support the event.

That would be awesome…

Yeah a Summer of Sega would be pretty sweet.

But they’d need a MUCH bigger hall!!

Btw - the upload to MegaVideo hasn’t worked :/ Veoh seems to be the only place I can upload this… I’ll keep trying stuff though.

G - It was a pleasure! Although its already been said: the people there were so nice, there was really warm and friendly atmosphere. Roll on next year!

You could split it into four parts and upload to Youtube.

@Anon - yeah that was one thing I was thinking of doing as well. But worried it mught break some of the flow.

I could give it a go.

A Summer of SEGA sounds classy but organising something like that would probably be hellish. I think The Sonic Stadium would handle anything Sonic related and i suppose me and TRiPPY can organise the NiGHTS side of it but who would sort out the other sections of SEGA? There’s certainly a lot in there. It was hectic trying to organise a Summer of Sonic. Imagine what would be needed in order to organise a Summer of SEGA. o.o

lol - I guess Sega Nerds could help organise part of it… but seeing as right now I am the only one from the UK on the site, it wouldn’t be much. :)

BTW - UPDATE!

MegaVideo now works! Huzzah! So anyone can watch the video without needing to download anying extra :)
