Rumour: Hidden Saturn game coming to XBLA?

Death TankAccording to website Gamerbytes, an old Saturn ‘classic’ might be making it’s way to XBLA, Death Tank, after the game was recently added to the USK, German Rating Board.

I say ‘classic’ because I have never heard anyone talk about Death Tank before now, but in the short few minutes of knowing the name (and promptly searching for more information), everyone seems to be raving about it.

Developed by Lobotomy Software, Death Tank was a hidden/bonus game which was to be found in Exhumed (aka Powerslave), with it’s sequel, Death Tank Zwei, locked away in Duke Nukem 3D (Saturn version).

The graphics on the games look pretty crappy, but apparently it is made up for by some excellent gameplay.  The games are described as being like Worms - but with real time gameplay, bigger weapons and better multiplayer.  Which does sound awesome!  Death Tank is said to support Six Players, while Death Tank Zwei handles Seven Players at a time.

One thing I love about the Saturn is that quite a few games seemed to have hidden 2d games.  I still remember the day I almost wet myself when I unlocked the hidden shooter in Steep Slope Sliders!  I think I might bust out my copies of Exhumed and Duke Nukem and try unlock these :o)

I really hope this news is true, the game sounds like it would be fantastic with online (and local) play on XBL, with maybe a little touch up on the visuals.

Bah, I was not into shooters with my Saturn xD this privilege was reserved to Goldeneye and Turok 2 at that time…

I was hopping for a SEGA’s Saturn game, not another company’s Saturn game xD (I would be glad if it was Treasure’s Radiant Silvergun thou lol)

Probably a worms ripoff. The worms game sold really well on XBLA.

Looks like there is a more easy way to unlock the game in Duke3D.
As long as you have a save of Quake and Duke3D in the internal memory, the game should be available in Duke3D menu.

I can not confirm because I do not have Duke3D for my Saturn.

Powerslave was an awesome game. I’d like to see that on XBLA instead of Death Tank.

I remember DT & DTZ but I really got into Dark Savior’s hidden game- ‘love love mini-racer’. Sounds silly but it was a fun little diversion, in fact it could have easily been a stand alone puzzle game.
