Master System 3

According to website, Terra, Brazilian company Tec Toy has released the new Master System 3 (click image for larger size).

Tec Toy is the official supplier of Sega products in South America, and have made many of their own models of classic Sega systems, including the Megadrive 3 and Megadrive Portable (which was recently released in the UK by Blaze - but is an exact copy of Tec Toy’s model).

The Master System 3 has 131 games built in, many of which are classics - judging from the list.  But it looks like there is no cartridge slot to play any other game, which is quite annoying.  However, the system does look damn sexy!

I am very tempted to buy this piece of kit myself, but I am put off by the ridiculous price tag.  Apparently (accoring to Terra) the system is being sold for $239(US)!  - I couldn’t see the price on Tec Toy’s official site though.

I doubt many people outside of Brazil will buy this, as good looking as it is - not when you can easily download all the Master System games for free, illegally (of course).  But that’s the way of the world right now. *sigh*

If it were cheaper, then I would snap this up.  If anyone is feeling a little flush with their cash, perhaps they could buy one and tell us what they think?

It is probably cheaper than buying all the games. But still, too expensive.

Looks nice, however. Unlike that garbage Chinese MD.

It’s not U$ 239. It’s R$ 239. (aproximately U$ 155).
I live in Brazil, but did not see this model as of yet. The stores are currently shipping another model, as you can see on the pictures below: http://www.americanas.com.br/AcomProd/1858/720213

If anyone wants to buy that future model let me know, and I’ll keep you guys updated and may even ship some for a fee using ebay.

It comes with 20 games in-memory (Alex Kidd Enchanted Castle / Alien Storm / Altered Beast / Arrow Flash / Columns III / Crack Down / Decapattack / Dr. Robotnik / E SWAT / Ecco I / Sonic Knuckles / Shadow Dancer / Ristar / Kid Chameleon / Jewel Master / Golden Axe / Gain Ground / Flicky / Shinobi II / Ecco Jr)

moidsch, that blue and white Master System supports carts?

Btw, why the hell are they using six button controllers with MS games?

It’s a pretty good list, but no Phantasy Star, Spellcaster or Space Harrier.

I think they are using the 6-Button controller to save money, since it’s probably already been developed for their MD systems, and they use the same ports on SMS and MD/Genesis).

I think a few Brazil games use 6 buttons, just fighters.

I like the faithfull recreation of the Genesis six button pads. Though it’s rather useless with two button games.
Very sad that theres no cartridge slot and a hefty price tag.

Better off buying a Wii and installing homebrew.
Though that still needs a Saturn style classic controller.

The nice flat design and sleek finish on the back with the sonic outline make it really look good and professional.
If ya didnt know anything you’d probly think its a new console.

One thing though, shouldnt it be alot smaller?
It looks kinda big for a master system with today’s tech and all.

Yeah, it’s really oversized. I bet they could pack in a lot less space than that.
That portable megadrive for 25 at play-asia? Nice tip. Here in Brasil we’ve got a hell lot of taxes for products, so things become costly. : /
As for the controller, I stick with emmett The Crab. They probably just want to keep the MD models. I don’t know how the buttons will behave. Maybe they could add turbo functions, if they’re willing to go that extra mile.
