Ok this post is not directly Sega related news. However, our good friends over at Cryptic Allusion, have requested - nay - pleaded, begged, got down on all fours and prayed, that we post this piece of news up (note: might be over exaggerating).Â
No doubt some of you will complain, but there’s the reason. But if you want a loose connection to Sega, CAGames is making Donk for the Dreamcast (so there you go). Plus, it is a chance for you to win free stuff!
Anyway, in their latest podcast, the Cryptocast, they announce a new contest - giving listeners a chance to win some pretty cool prizes.
The Cryptocast is mainly about homebrew and independent game development, which means that the prizes are related to that. What with the Dreamcast having a decent homebrew scene, I’m sure that this will interested some of you.
On offer are Independent Games Vol. 1 and Independent Games Vol. 2 and a “Killer Nick” necklace (listen to the podcast to find out what that is). While that may not sound that amazingly appealing to some people, I’m sure anyone who is into the homebrew scene, will find it enticing.
Each volume contains several a lot of games (about 40 or 50 in total), across various genres, with a mix of 2D and 3D games.  Many of the games are IGF Award Winners - which means that, in terms of independent games, these are among the highest quality.
Plus, (as I said before) it’s free stuff, which is always a good thing! So go for it.
To enter the contest you will need to visit this thread at the Cryptic Allusion forums, where they have more information on how to enter, links to the podcast, and you can pose questions directly to the team, should you need to.

Heh, I remember Donk, this is a remake of an old Amiga CD32 game. Sweet, that’s three indie Dreamcast releases this year by the looks of it.

Yep, Donk is a remake of the CD32 game. We’re really hoping to get this thing out the door, and I’m actively looking for someone to help us finish it up. If you know a coder that has some Dreamcast experience, SEND THEM MY WAY! Please… *whimper*
And listen to the Cryptocast! If you post on our forums after having listened, you get an entry in the contest! Easy and cheap!
