New Sonic & The Black Knight info and images appear

The person at Sonic Blur website did not post the scans, but did post the info in the magazine. This means I have to do more work and type most of it out. The game is being developed by the same people that did Sonic and the Secret of the Rings. You will control Sonic with the analogue stick.

Apparently you have the ability to help people, this will take you closer to Knighthood, if you ’smite’ them your reputation will take a blow. In the end of a stage the game will rank up your good deeds and your mistakes to give you your final score. Items can be purchased from Villagers, each item will add something special. You will also have the ability to trade items online with your friends. Oh, rings aren’t in monitors in this game. They come in burlap sacks. Also confirmed, the black knight is not Martin Lawrence, it’s this guy.
“As Sonic runs along, a simple flick of the Wii remote will execute a basic slash, which is enough to dispatch most low-level grunts.”
You will use a similar storybook device as in Secret of the Rings. There will be more advance skills that include parrying, thrusting, and a buzz-saw move in midair.

Combat is made so you can slice through enemies without slowing down in speed. Also you have a talking sword that will guide you through the game, like the white ranger did! There will be 200 items in all, some items will combine with others to make new items. Items galore! You will use magic to perform various things, the magic look like chao heads. The red ones let you bounce and the blue ones speed you up.
Sonic will have the ability to cover large gaps by firing a ballista and grinding the rope. The soundtrack will be done by Jen Senoue and he will add a Celtic vibe to the familiar Sonic sound. Each stage will have branching paths, in these paths you will be able to meet different town folks for items and such. The game is confirmed to have 2-D side scrolling and 3-D action like Sonic Unleashed. They decided to bring back Sonic and the Secret of the Rings skill system but having it not mess with the games tempo.
“This time, however, some of Sonic’s friends will be playable. Each hero will boast unique abilities, and though the team isn’t ready to divulge the full cast just yet, we do know the identities of two playable comrades: Knuckles, who brandishes two swords at once, and Shadow.”
Don’t worry young nerds, because playing as those other characters is optional. The old gauges from Secret of the Rings is gone and is replaced with a new one. Everytime you kill enemies it fills up a bit, when its full you will be able to unleash an attack that will take down multiple enemies. You can also kill strings of enemies. All you do is hold B to lock on then flick your wiimote, after he dies press B to lock on to the next. After the chain is finish you will get a speed boost.

It doesn’t seem that bad. They should have had the game set in modern settings, and have him have a white suit and helmet with a sword named Saba. It should also be a human instead of a hedgehog.

My facepalm has been revoked, and I’m actually excited now.
I rather enjoyed Secret Rings, and it looks like they’re working hard to fix its many quirks that held it back from being a great title.
This game looks great, and I’m actually more excited for this one now than I was for Unleashed.

Sounds like a decent concept. I just hope the execution fairs as well. I hope that buying stuff is secondary and not necessary.. that sounds like something that could slow down gameplay.

Yeah. After the info was finally shown, my excited for Unleashed went down and my excitement for this went up.
Of course, right now, nether is around the excitement for Chronicles.

Still looking forward to Unleashed more than this… but on the flipside, looking forward to this more than the Wii version of Unleashed.

Looking at those screens I was damn impressed - until I saw the one with the enemy in it. (Looks a bit too square)
But still graphically better than about 99% of Wii titles out there- then again all Sega titles are… (shh no one mention Golden Compass)
But I still wish they hadn’t used Sonic in this game. I would have quite liked to see Sega create a new character - one designed for this. They could keep the same formula - and it wouldn’t feel so “wrong”.

So, it was 1001 Arabian Nights, now The Once and Future King. I wonder what’s next?
I liked S&tSR. The control scheme was kind of fluky, however, it was released early in the Wii’s life so it makes sense that Sega made use all the gimmicks available to them. The mini-games were fantastic, better than wiiplay, game party, carnival, etc. - at least, that’s what people said when we had a big group playing together.

OPTIONAL playable characters. It is clearly stated that it’s possible to complete the game playing only as Sonic.

at first look i thought it was a joke, now after reading all this i thought this looks awesome! im so happy you can actually play through the story as someone other than sonic, knuckles! i hope i can upgrade him with a mace >:D !! i like the idea of talking to the townsfolk, and i saw a screenshot on youtube of sonic walking through a town, that must be where you get the side quests :D and where you can smite the people (even though your not meant to lol)

When does this thing of awesomeness come out! I’ve only known about it for a day and I feel like I’m gonna die because it’s taking so long!
