The title reminds me of that horrible Black Knight comedy movie from 2001. This is one of the few movies that Martin Lawrence didn’t dress up like a fat black woman.

To me it looks like a sequel-of-sorts to Sonic and the Secret Rings. Secret Rings had the really atypical Arabian Nights setting, and this “Black Knight” game looks to be the same deal… I dunno. :)

Did anyone else notice that Dead Rising is also coming to the Wii?
However lets clam down a bit until we see something other than promotional artwork. Once we see that the sword play with the Wii Motion Plus sucks then you can let the venom fly, but please until then, just look at it menacingly.

This was unexpected to me, here I was looking at Sonic Unleasehd on Wikipedia then scroll down to the bottom and I see Sonic and the Black Knight? Hmmmm….I wonder… Sonic and the Secret Rings, Sonic AND THE Black Knight.

Whatever. With absolutely no details on the game yet, why doesn’t everyone here who “knows” it’ll be a bad game just shut up and wait like the rest of us.
Or if it pains you that much to remain silent, why don’t you just focus on Unleashed? Or even Sonic Chronicles? (Though Chronicles might as well not exist as it’s on the DS.)
My biggest fears about Unleashed have been allayed and the game should be awesome as long as they actually finish it this time. Though I am a little worried when the one Sega rep made it sound like there were several stages and storyline components that hadn’t even been started yet….

If this IS in fact a massively improved Secret Rings, and Sonic doesn’t use the sword (PROTIP: he doesn’t), it’ll be the best Sonic ever. Secret Rings is already my favourite Sonic to just pick up and play, imagine if it was a good game.

That actually looks pretty badass, but people, stop going insane. It’s not THAT horrible. Sega is just trying out some new ideas. I don’t think this is another Shadow the Hedgehog. Seriously, CALM DOWN PEOPLE! It is not the end of the world.
Anyways, let me continue.
1. Shadow is the Ultimate Life-form. He does NOT, I repeat, NOT need guns, or swords for that matter. He has plenty of abilities he can use to kill people.
2. Hopefully, Sonic Team USA has learned their lesson from Shadow the Hedgehog on how not to make weapons so hard and difficult to use, and surely there won’t be any vechiles.
3. Hopefully, Sonic Team USA will do a good job thinking of the the plot for this one (although Sonic games are never really known for their plot. i.e. Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Death Egg was taken from the Death Star, obiviously), and maybe they’ll think of a reason of WHY Sonic needs this sword. Shadow had no reason for these guns and swords, so, maybe they’ll get more in depth of the plot, but hopefully they’ll also focus on the gameplay as well.
4. Sonic needs some more techniques for attacking. The Homing Attack and Spin Dash just aren’t enough. Shadow has Homing Attack, Spin Dash, and chaos abilities (with multiple ones it makes a good variety of attacks). I know there’s been level up in some games, being able to buy upgrades and such, but since it’s not in all games, that’s not always quite enough.
5. You can’t judge a book by it’s cover! I mean, some of us thought Sonic Next Gen was going to be awesome, but it was a failure, so, this might be a pretty good game, not bad. So let’s not immediaetly judge this game is going to be horrible. Let’s give it some time. Seriously, we JUST now found out about it,

Come to think of it, 360/PS3 owners disses Secret Rings saying it was “Nothing compared to Next-Gen.” It ended up being the other way around and they ended up eating crow over it.

This is terrible. It is going to be terrible. Sega have thrown so many fucking gimmicks on to that poor hedgehog that he’s become a bloody laughing stock to magazines, reviewers and even his own fans across the face of the planet. Those defending this terrible concept, actually go and look at it closely and think back to when Sonic had a reason for being called Sonic. Think back to when people everywhere thought he was genuinly “cool”. I even knew Nintendo fanboys who liked him back then. Now he’s nothing but a whore to the company. They throw the cash and he does whatever they want him to do.
I really reaaaally feel sorry for Sonic. He’s become so detached from what it was that made him a hero in the first place…and i really don’t ever see Sega opening their stupid fucking money infested eyes to see they’ve ruined such an amazing character that the whole world over loved.

Essentially, Sega can’t do anything with Sonic, no matter what…
They can’t experiment because the gaming world gets ticked off, they can’t do Sonic in any other genre because gaming world gets their panties in a bunch.
It’s all nostalgia, Sega should just re-release the original Sonic Genesis on Nintendo DS every single year, that’s what I think is the only humanly possible way to please the gaming world.
Everybody hates Sonic now, but can’t never seem to just the hell up about it.
Some people are so edgy that they are already throwing stones at a game that they barely even know.
And then they complain about journalists saying that gamers are too volatile… wonder why?
Don’t take if from me, folks, I like a humourous take on this as much as the next, but there’s a little thing called “crossing the line”.

That’s the thing, Sega can’t revive the older franchises, no matter what.
Look at how much heat GA:BR is taking, all pure and simple hate…
If it were a new franchise they’be kicking the door down, demanding a sequel to an old Dreamcast, Saturn or Mega Drive title and telling people not to buy that game.
You think a Shining Force 4 would get a good reception? It’s been nearly 15 years since the third installment on the Satun, naming it ‘4′ would associate with the 3rd, which was a commercial failure, like it or not and not many people remember the franchise that much.
The same applies to Wonder Boy, too old, too obscure and not as easy to translate into the next-gen.
I can also recall a few Genesis titles that didn’t translate well on DC, Ecco the Dolphin was one of those cases.

Guess what. It’s because you pull stupid shit like this. I could forgive Unleashed for the Werehog, I took solace in that most of it could be skipped in favour of the glorious Sonic platforming sections.
I wonder why SEGA/Sonic Team do this to us sometimes. Even when so close to creating a true evolution to the 3D Sonic game, culminating in win, they engage in ‘Sonic cosplay’ mode and fuck it all up.

I’m going to stay optimistic - until we hear more. And see some screens.
Chances are Sonic may not even use a sword - and the game is set in a medieval setting - they just wanted to give him a sword to let people know what it could be about. (one theory)
OR Sega is about to fuck up Sonic’s reputation even further - when they have just slowly been able to rebuild some of the damage Sonic 06 and other games caused - with Sonic Rush, Sonic Unleashed and Chronicles (not released yet - but the general reception from people who have played them seems good).
If it does have sword play in it - I don’t know why Sega can’t just make a brand new IP. Something to take on the Zelda franchsie, without using a character who is known for not using weapons ever.
Oh well - fingers crossed people. Fingers crossed.
-ALSO just to note - I did an article AGES ago on here, which had an image of Sonic holding Link’s sword and shield.
(Can’t remember what it was for - probably something to do with Sonic being in Brawl)

But yeah, they really are just whoring Sonic out right now… They know it’s going to sell just because it has Sonic in it… Even our over-the-top bashing at this first image is gonna advertise the game for Sega at no cost to them, so why would they bother to put a crummy unknown character in there when they can whore out Sonic in it? omg there needs to be some justice in the video game industry for these kinds of things…

Yeah. When Final Fantasy XIII was announced for the 360, the *CENSORED* hit the fan and many gamers began to cry about it. Stuff makes me regret being hardcore at all.
BTW, GoNintendo reported that a Sonic game has been rated, with Nintendo as the publisher.

The name seems to imply that they’re going after the fairy tale angle again, as they did with Sonic & the Secret Rings, which actually makes me suspect that it ISN’T Sega Studio USA at the helm for this one but the Japanese team that did Secret Rings.
