MegaCD classic RPG hits the iPhone

Quite surprisingly a RPG game has appeared on the iTunes store.  But it’s not a new game, it’s an old classic from the Mega/Sega CD, Vay.

Vay was originally released on the MegaCD in 1994, by SIMs, and boasted some great animated cutscenes, a top soundtrack (thanks to the CD-based software), plus well over 40 Hours of gameplay (apparently) - which was pretty incredible back in those days.  Remember this was on a 16-bit system.

The game has been re-released on the iPhone, by SoMoGa, keeping the game pretty much the same as the original, but with some new graphics for battles, writing style and menu systems designed with the iPhone in mind - as the screenshots below show.

The game is out on the iTunes store now for $4.99.

Fingers crossed for Lunar, Shining Force or Fantasy Star…heck maybe even a little Dark Wizard.

If these sexy Sega CD classics keep on coming, I might have to invest in an iPhone after all.

Oh man Ryan! Shining Force… I would probably cry if that happened.
Shining Force CD. Oh please.

Sorry sounding like a crazy person… but I love the Shining Series.
And Shining Force games (well 1-3) are great portable RPGs.

The first thing that came to my mind was Shining Force. Now with the iPhone, they can be very innovative with using the touch screen for menu selection. I think that Magic Knights Rayearth for Saturn would be awesome for this too, but that’s not going to happen.

Speaking of Saturn games - I wonder if they would consider some old Saturn classics?

Like Sega Rally. Or maybe NiGHTS? (Yeah I doubt NiGHTS - but just a thought.
