Sega Game Spoilers: Streets of Rage
Size doesn’t matter, (at least that’s what my hookers keep telling me), and so after the long, wonderful videos from last week’s SGS, this week I think it’s best to bring it on, short and sweet.
This week we take a look at the original Streets of Rage on the Megadrive/Genesis. Admittedly, being a 16-bit title, it does not have any fancy cutscenes, nor a particularly deep storyline. So what is there to see?
Well one thing is that this game offered two ending credits. It was also one of the first games I played which gave you an option, which could affect the final outcome of the game, (I’m sure there were many before - but it was a first for me).
In case you didn’t know - when you get the final boss, he asks if you wants to become his right hand guy (after the beating the crap out of Shiva, his bodyguard). Of course this is a trap, and Mr. X pulls a lever which makes you fall back down to level six - and you have to fight your way back up to level eight again.
However, when you get back to Mr. X, you get your chance at revenge - and because you opted to turn from good to bad before, the ending changes and you take over his evil empire.
It doesn’t stop there either. If you are playing co-operative mode, both you and your friend get to choose if you want to become his right hand man/woman. If one of you opts to become bad, and the other stays good - then you are forced to fight each other!
It was a classic time for my friends and I.

I tried this before and it did not occur. It must only happen on 2 players.

Hmm Im sure it happens in single player too - where you get dropped back on the 6th level…
I may have to go and play it to double check. I can recall doing it on my own years ago though.

Axel lost because all he can do is a crappy knee kick vs a full out jump kick.

One of favorite games on the Genesis. My cousins use to play this game together. Still hate the sisters that kicks my ass in the last level.

Yeah those two girls piss me off too. But I find them harder at the end of level 5.
