Rumour: Jet Set Radio to make a comeback?

Jet Set Raio Wii?We’ve heard this rumour several times in the past few years, but perhaps now it has more credence.

According to Kotaku, Sega has recently re-filed, for the game’s trademark - dated 24th July 2008 - and at the recent Comic-Con this year, the gaming website overheard some interesting rumours.

That’s what we heard from friendlier folks at Comic-Con last week, specifically that the publisher was planning on bringing back one of its more beloved franchises, Jet Grond Radio.

We were overly excited to hear a rumor that Sega was planning on reintroducing the series, this time on the Wii.

Simon Jeffery speaks his mind about EA - gaming world applauds him

Simon Jeffery the manIf you had asked me what I thought about Simon Jeffery a month ago, I might have said “Simon who?”

Yeah, I know he’s the President of Sega America, but back then he was nothing more than a blip on my radar.  However, in the last month, with all the E3 interviews going on, I have grown to love this man!

He seems so switched on, and pretty much speaks his mind - which is exactly what he did in a recent interview with American news agency, Forbes, where he compared EA to a “petulant child” - which is right on the money (in my opinion).

Donk

Ok this post is not directly Sega related news.  However, our good friends over at Cryptic Allusion, have requested - nay - pleaded, begged, got down on all fours and prayed, that we post this piece of news up (note: might be over exaggerating).

No doubt some of you will complain, but there’s the reason.  But if you want a loose connection to Sega, CAGames is making Donk for the Dreamcast (so there you go).  Plus, it is a chance for you to win free stuff!

Anyway, in their latest podcast, the Cryptocast, they announce a new contest - giving listeners a chance to win some pretty cool prizes.

IGN lists their top 10 Saturn games

Saturn Games

It seems to be a rule that if you own a fan site, you absoltely need to have a top ten listing of games.  It is a little less common for such lists to appear on the bigger sites.

But they do come along ocassionally, and quite often you will find the fans yelling and shouting about how the list is all wrong, and they missed off some of the consoles best games, or have given out false information.

That is what can happen, but with IGN’s latest top ten list, I would say they are pretty much on the money.

Would a “Sega Channel” work on the Wii?

Sega Channel

I’m sure many of us here can agree that Sega has a great selection of games on the Wii’s Virtual Console, I believe they have released the most games on the download service.  But would some of you say to having a special “Sega Channel” for the Wii?

According to Sephen Munn, over at Aeropause, it is a much needed addition to the download service.  But before you all start with your “Yays” and “Nays” over the matter, let me explain Mr. Munn’s concept.

The idea is not to be like the Sega Channel of yesteryear - which acted much like the Virtual Console - allowing gamers to download a choice of up to 50 Genesis games (which was updated monthly), for a monthly fee.

Instead, Stephen, is suggesting that Sega create a channel which will have Saturn and Dreamcast emulators.  Rather than downloading games, Wii owners will download the software, enabling them to play Saturn and Dreamcast games off the original discs.

Quite frankly, I love the concept.  However, there are certainly some pretty big flaws in the idea.

Official Space Siege interview & demo released

Sega has posted up a new interview with the CEO and founder of Gas Powered Games, (not to mention the creator of Dungeon Siege), Chris Taylor, talking about their upcoming game, Space Siege.

While I’m pretty interested in the game, the interview certainly feels a little… relaxed, which I’m worried will put some people off the game.  But, beyond the slightly ’stoned’ feeling I get from watching it, I can see some potential good, and the game seems to be shaping up rather nicely.

And for those of you who want to give the game a test drive before it’s release then Gamershell are the ones to ask - as they have put up a new demo for the game.

Rumour: Could we soon be looking for sailors on the PSP?

According to Joystiq a new Dreamcast emulator for the PSP is capable of running such high spec DC games as Shenmue.

However, while this is all potentially great news for Sega Nerds and Dreamcast lovers worldwide, right now the emulator isn’t exactly running at a playable speed.

“NullDC PSP” (based off the PC emulator, NullDC), is able to run Shenmue… at about 1-2fps, and is said to have load times of up to 30 minutes.  Not seconds, but minutes!  Making it literally unplayable.

It also has some pretty obvious graphical errors, if you take a look at the above video, you can see Ryo running up the hill towards his house.  But chances are he won’t be able to see you, or anyone else, not only because he is a computer generated being - but also he has no head!

While this could easily be true, I’m filling this under “rumour” for now, just in case - as you can never be too careful with emulator videos these days ;o)

Kuju Entertainment and Sega team up again on Wii

After Sega decided not to advertise the brilliant game Crush by Zoë Mode, I’m surprised that Kuju is still working with Sega. It seems this time their development team Headstrong Games will be working on an untitled Wii action game. They are the studio that worked on Battalion Wars 2, so we should expect a good game.

I can’t get mad about good teams working at Sega, just wish they would advertise their games more.

Samba De Amigo party at Sega of America

Sega of America decided the best way to promote Samba De Amigo on Wii would be to play it themselves and have their intern blog about it. First of all, we don’t have parties, offices, or interns. But If we did have interns, we would make them do all the work as well.

We would also replace that creepy Sonic mask with a creepy Yuko Ogura mask

Alpha Protocol to include James Bond-style love interests, for that real spy experience

Three of the biggest (and best loved) spy themes that people compare Alpha Protocol to are Jack Bauer, Jason Bourne and James Bond.  That is because, essentially players are given the option to play the game out like these three spys.

Jack Bauer is the hard ass, in your face type spy.  Jason Bourne having brilliant skills and being to kick pretty much everyone’s ass.  Lastly James Bond, the smooth talking, playboy, gadget user.

Well it seems like Alpha Protocol will be just that little bit more like a James Bond movie than some of us anticipated.  Talking with MTV’s Multiplayer Blog, senior producer Ryan Rucinski spoke about how Michael Thornton will be able to pursue the ladies and how it can affect the outcome of the game.
