Rumor: The PS2 and Wii versions of Sonic Unleashed to have less levels
Posted by George. Filed under George, Multi-platform, Nintendo Wii, Sonic. Tagged with rumor, Sonic Unleashed.

According to Crispy Gamer website, the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions of Sonic Unleashed will have two more levels compared to the Wii and Playstation 2 versions.
“Wii and PS2 will have only a paltry seven, and much crappier graphics.”
Other points he made was that the developers wanted the game to focus on Sonic. They also confirm that Tails, Amy, and Shadow are not playable. But what about Silver Big, Knuckles, and Blaze?

I don’t understand that last part. They want the game to focus on Sonic and Tails, but Amy and Shadow aren’t playable? Or is it they wanted to focus on Sonic, and no one else is playable?

I assume what you’re saying is that the focus is on Sonic and that Tails/Amy/Shadow are not playable. For some reason the way is worded is a little confusing.

There is supposed to be a comma after Sonic, that is why.
And since when did they even mention Blaze, Silver, and Knuckles? The 5% of the game that is not Sonic is really doubtly going to be Blaze or Silver… If it is, well I do not think I need to state anything about how dumb that would be.

Hashimoto himself said that Silver will not be in this game at all. (After that Dave Halverson guy asked about it.)

“Big, Knuckles, and Blaze?”
Yeah, what about everyone’s favorite short fuse having Anteater? Big should only appear as a hidden character in Bass Fishing titles or something.

Big the Cat is the BEST Sonic Char, if you disagree I’m going to throw a fucking fit!

There are no problems if Blaze, Shadow and Silver are not on the game. Those 3 freaks are the worst thing on the series.
All the rest are OK!
Oh, I forgot Marine and the lame robots…
Why not put the rest of the characters as secret features? Put them to run like Sonic, on the same stages, with little differences, like Sega did on [SONIC THE HEDGEHOG] series on Mega-Drive.

Gimping the Wii version is definitely a mistake. Everyone knows that Sonic sells best on Nintendo platforms, so why would you offer an inferior product on your key platform?

Well from what I’ve heard here and there, the Wii and PS2 versions are NOT running the Hedgehog Engine. Correct me if I’m wrong, but maybe the PS2/Wii version really is going to be a different take on the game (like how there’s a DS version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympics even though it’s completely different).

youcantcatchtheblue, thats correct. The Hedgehog Engine is only for next gen hardware.

hhmm… in my opinion, there’s a lot of camera movement in Unleashed that reminded me of Sonic and the Secret Rings. There were times when the camera panned out to get the bigger, 2D picture of things. So, I’m not too worried about the Wii version. If anything, i agree with Storm!’s comment and hope that playing with other characters is the same as it was on Mega drive and not like in SAdventure.

I have two things I want to address here…
One, it’s reasonable to assume that the PS2 and Wii versions will likely have less stuff, since some levels will likely not be possible to do on the those machines.
Including the Wii, I’m surprised how can anyone still think that the Wii can match the graphics of the PS3 and Xbox 360.
Even earlier new-gen titles looks inferior on the Wii, like say Call of Duty 3 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance…
One last thing, this will be the last time I ever speak of this, since anyone who’s ever talked about it got burned.
And here’s my comment towards Crispy Gamer…
I’m amused by the fact that when non-gamers are outraged by the violence in say, GTA, gamers unite and argue that what happens in GTA is not real and has no effect on society.
In a game where a ficticious walking on 2 leg,english-speaking blue hedgehog gets kissed on the cheeck by a ficticious princess that doesn’t exist in real life, from a country that doesn’t exist and she has magical powers(which nobody has in real life) and does it for the sole purpose of reviving the fallen hero, again only plausible in a fantasy context… every gamer and the gaming community gets ticked off…
Funny how the gaming community reacts to everything…

Still, minor characters make cameos. Was it just me who had fun trying to find Big in SA2?

9 and 7 levels? They better have at least 2 acts to each level and a boss too!
I only remember seeing Big in Sonic Adventure 2 battle.
