Shiren 3 takes 10th spot in Japanese software charts
Despite my well-documented misgivings about the Shiren series, I’m happy to see its latest release seeing some success in Japan. Chunsoft’s Shiren 3 came in at 10 in last week’s Media Create Japanese software sales charts, selling 14,000 copies and putting its total sold at about 73,000 units.
Shiren 3 saw a considerable dropoff in its chart placing from last week, though, when it secured the second spot. The game, which was the only Sega title to appear in the top 10 charts, scored an impressive 35/40 from Famitsu.
While the chances of a Western release may be slim, we’ve heard the game is more accessable in that you won’t lose all your progress if you die like in Shiren the Wanderer on the Nintendo DS. Knowing that, we’d actually like to at least play the game a few times.
