Yakuza 2 to have Japanese audio with English subtitles

Fans whimpered and those whimpers have been heard over at Sega of America, they updated the Yakuza 2 site revealing that the game will come with the Japanese voice actors. This is great, even though I actually enjoyed the English voice overs, you can’t win them all I guess….
Authentic, cinematic sequel. The gritty, genuine portrayal of life in the Yakuza is made more realistic throughout 16 gripping chapters with a return to the original Japanese voice cast and English subtitles.
I don’t know if this means there will be no English dub, we will have to wait and find out. We will keep you updated.

I wonder if the third game will follow shortly there after. It has nothing to do with the first to, but it does as Yakusa in the title none the less.

I’m a little bummed because the first game had some excellent dubbing work, but I know the Japanese will be just as excellent. And I am just thrilled I will finally get to play the sequel to my favorite post-DC Sega game. :D

I really doubt there’ll be any english track. One of their main reasons for going the subtitle route would be to cut costs.
They did pay for some reasonably big name actors in the first one after all.

Yeah, I can’t imagine that this game is going to be a million seller or anything close to it, so I think this is a smart move by Sega.

That sucks. I like games that are dubbed for the English language. I know a lot of people didn’t like the English voices in Shenmue, but I liked it. I’d like to hear English voices in Yakuza 2, but if it will allow for Sega to profit more…

As expected, they inverted a lot of money in the dub (just like Shenmue 1) and they didn’t sell enough so they release the game only with subs (just like Shenmue 2 for DC, which I loved)
I enjoyed the English dub in the first game, but I also played the Japanese version to enjoy the original dub, now I will not need to play both versions :)

And I was hoping for more “Step the fuck up, it’s time to die!” lines from Kazuma = [
