No love? Sega to end Love and Berry production

loveandberry.jpgSega’s last certifiable Japanese arcade hit, Love and Berry, appears to have lost its love with Japanese gamers as Sega announced that it will end production and support of the card-based fashion game this September.

The developer cited a general decrease in consumer demand and market saturation after competitors released similar titles as reasons for the game’s demise. Released in 2006, Love and Berry was a huge arcade success, selling millions of cards and even having its very own brick and mortar fashion store in Japan.

While millions of Japanese girls are crying at this news, all I can think about is what Sega is gonna do with that awesome Love and Berry snowmobile. Send it to us, Sega!

It’s not easy to make girls to play on arcades. Sega have my respect! ;P

Kind of sad. The game was quite addictive in the arcade.
(Yeah I played it!)

They’ll probably replace it with something else to keep the fan’s appeal like with the beetle game being replaced with the dinosuar one. It just needs a different coat of paint, that’s all.

The game was released in 2004 not 2006.The DS version came out in 2006.

i am very sad with this news because my daughter and myself love this game very much and it is just picking-up here in the Philippines. in fact i just bought the DS game and the cards from Japan just so my daughter could enjoy the game always. i hope Sega reconsiders because i know a lot of young girls who would be sad and devastated if Love and Berry will be gone. i also hope that Love and Berry merchandise would soon reach the Philippines.
