What does Tetsuya Mizuguchi think about remaking Space Channel 5?

Eurogamer had a interview with Tetsuya Mizuguchi, where they asked him the stereotypical questions. One of them was about him remaking Space Channel 5! This is what he had to say:

I don’t feel like there’s a really special reason to remake Space Channel 5 now. It’s not like Rez. Rez is an experience game - the physical experience is very important, the visuals, the sounds and the vibration. I wanted to prove that if you had much more resolution, including the vibration, that it could be much more fun. Space Channel 5 is essentially a rhythm timing game. It’s funny, like a comical TV show. I don’t feel the need for much more resolution in that! That’s the major difference.

I agree with him, he should make a totally new Space Channel 5. Do it!

With two wiimotes and the wii balance board, Space Channel 5 would be a completely different experience.

Or have rhythm games lost their charm? I think the new craze is guitar hero / rock band. I haven’t seen any DDR setups in any arcades recently.

There’ll always be room in my library for rhythm games. Heck, if I wasn’t so turned off by hype, I might have gone out to buy Guitar Hero.

But then again, probably not….

*leaves to play Space Channel 5 on his Dreamcast*

Yeah, there really is no need for a remake.
Part 3 however is one of those dream games that I’d want to be made the most

I really hated this game on DC, I could simply never do it right. If they made it more easy to play I would like one.

There was a remake of it for PS2 years ago.

PS2 got the port for SC52 (DC version only released in japan)

Kogen if you were that bad you could have used the cheat, I also had fun viewing the entire game without playing it!

And about Mizuguchi words, what can he say? the game will be ported to the wii, if he said he would like a great remake with great graphics this would not be possible with a wii…

And I don’t think it’s possible for a human to emulate Ulala movements with wii mote + wii fit x_x

I just barely bought Space Channel 5 for DC and Space Channel 5 Special Edition for PS2 in this last week. I knew I wasn’t going to do very well… the only rhythm/action game I was good at was Donkey Konga and the minigame on DKC for GBA. Still a cool game and I want to get to the point where you dance with Michael. I don’t care what anyone says: that man can dance!
