Sega shows off Monkey Ball for the iPhone

Sega took to the stage earlier today, at the WWDC (WorldWide Developers Conference) in San Francisco, to show off the new version of Super Monkey Ball on the iPhone.
By all accounts, (well from the 8 or 9 reports I have read so far), the presentation was impressive to see live. Sega’s Associate Producer, Ethan Einhorn, gave a live presentation of the game, with an associate playing on the final level and showing off how easy the game is to play using the iPhone’s tilt functions.
Reports indicate that he was given a round of applause afterwards - possibly for his “mad skillz” at the game, or it could be a good indication that the game is looking very impressive.
One of the most amazing things is that it took the team just 8 weeks to complete the full game, giving you all four Monkeys (plus balls), 5 different worlds and some 110 Stages to play on!
The game is due for release on July 11th, the same time as the new iPhone 3G, and is priced at just $9.99! It’s a pity I’m not cool/rich enough to afford an iPhone just yet, because this game looks great!

Screw the iPhone, iPod, iMac, and any other Apple product. It’s good to see Sega games out there, but really, screw Apple.

Who’s trolling “segaprophet”? I’m here all the time because I’m a Sega fan. It just so happens that Apple products are overrated. It’s great to see Sega games on Apple products because I want to see the good name of Sega spread, but when it comes to MP3 players and computers, there are MUCH better, more compatible, and better value products. It’s the same reason why I don’t use Firefox when browsing - there are better things out there and I won’t be dragged into the hype. Hmm… won’t be dragged into the hype…kind of like a Sega fan, right?
On another note, I wonder how the gameplay will compare to the Wii version. I also wonder if they’ll include touch controls (I didn’t watch the whole video) like they did for the DS game. Anyone know?

Wow, lay off Gamershoice! He certainly can have an opinion like the rest of us. If you like Apple, good for you. I personally think it’s overpriced and lacks compatability with many things incuding games. Anyway, I think it’s about time someone made some software that can play well on the iphone. Their choice for very few harware buttons makes it extremely difficult to play games on. Hence why I have an Ipaq Phone. Either way, kudo’s to SEGA for keeping a great game alive.
