Sega Game Endings: Enduro Racer
A bit of a short, and perhaps unusual game ending for you this week, with Enduro Racer.
Enduro Racer was/is possibly one of my favourite games on my Master System. It kind of reminded me a fair bit of ExciteBike for the NES, and I guess it was Sega’s ‘competition’ for Nintendo’s title (I think we can all guess which one everyone remembers…).
However I guess I preferred Enduro Racer to ExciteBike - as it’s isometric view gave a better “3D feel” to it (which was a great feeling in the 80’s/90’s), plus the tracks split at certain moments, to give the feel of multiple routes, and, as well as having rocks to get in your way, you also had cars on the track with you! Crazy times.
Anyway, the game’s ending gives a bit of a weird speech (almost), about how “It’s not the winning, but the taking part that counts.” The kind of lesson you expect Sesame Street, or some Saturday morning kids show to spout off to kids. See this is why kids are so bad these days, they aren’t playing enough video games!
Well I guess it is a good life lesson, it helps losers feel good about themselves… which is something I think all Sega Nerds have to deal with on a day to day basis. (Talking about Sega ‘losing’ the console wars… not you guys being bad at sports or whatever). ;)
Err yeah, anyway enjoy the video!

oh Enduro Racer a great game of my childhood that played in the Master System
The Japanese version of this game has more clues on U.S. version had many cuts
The final text for the American and also very beautiful to the Arcade version of the game emulates the emulator MAME well she appears in a film of Rent Girlfriend

I have the cartridge and beat it.
Defintly more enjoyable than excitebike. Not to meniton this one actually had music.
Infact, I kinda prefer this over the arcade version.
Though its a shame when you have to repair your bike or the game ends before you can make all the upgrades.
Wich ofcourse would probly make it all too easy anyway, but its tuanting.
Also very important lesson. Its about the race, not the win.

It’s NOTHING like Super Hang On. For one thing this was actually fun (sorry - I know everyone loves it, but I have always hated the Hang On games).
But yeah, very different types of game. Other than you ride bikes in both of them.
