Golden Axe: Beast Riders in all its glory

by George on May 31st, 2008

I have already seen enough Golden Axe: Beast Riders to know that I’m ready to play the game. But for everyone else, this is the first time seeing the game in action longer than two seconds. Now that Sega is finally releasing some footage to the public, what do you guys think?

22 opinions for Golden Axe: Beast Riders in all its glory

I think it looks aweful and Sega should save face by changing the name to simply ‘Beast Riders’ with out the Golden Axe part so we can just forget about it.

But if you take ‘Golden Axe’ out of the title half of the ten people that are going to buy it wouldn’t!

And there’s too much similarity in character design to not give it a Golden Axe name. It would change from a vaguely similar 3-D remake to a ripoff if you took the name Golden Axe out of it.

There were moments in that trailer where it looked really good…and then there were sections that looked terribly dull…and the parts that looked terribly dull were when it showed her running about in between enemies and hacking away at them. I think those special attacks/death kills are going to have to carry the game otherwise this is just another hack n’slasher and those get boring reaaaaally fast.

I was never into Golden Axe to begin with. The whole time period is a tad boring to me but i was kinda hoping this trailer would have swayed me. Sadly, it hasn’t.

Looked like your standard hack and slash to me.

    Nothing amazing- nothing terrible.

HEY, put up a link to the previous Golden Axe coverage, as you people didn’t bother commenting to much on the trailer ;).

I’m actually quite interested in the game.
I’m hoping sega go for the bloody approach and make it pretty violent.

I doubt it will be the best game ever or anything, but I think it could be pretty good.

the combos shown in the trailer are not the most gruesome/gory ones. They saved some pretty brutal ones. I think the combat system was pretty deep. Again this is a golden axe spin-off not a Golden AXe arcade game …

Well, after playing Iron Man, I know Secret Level can make good trailers for bad games, and this looks worse than those trailers.

I’ll give it a shot though, and even if it’s pretty shitty I’ll probably buy it, at least it has classic Golden Axe music.

Ryan, you’re wrong. The story is already there, the little extras like the costumes and music from earlier games are in too, and if they changed the name the game wouldn’t sell as well. To top it off theirs been a LOT of bad Golden Axe games anyways.

A lot of bad Golden Axe games? I can only think of one, and it was a Gamegear exclusive. Unless you mean shitty ports, then there are tonnes of those(generally of the first game).

The game does not look utterly bad, but still, I only expect it to be decent. At least in Viking everything looked nice; here it looks more dull and ugly.

    I think i lost my hope…
I love SEGA but i’m just tired to see them killing franchises.

That looks horrible, not to mention the trailer is horrible quality to begin with frame rate wise, good trailer production values SoA! PASS

You weren’t going to buy it anyway Shadi…. Did you think Golden Axe was about fox people or something?

You just keep assuming stuff then George =P theres lots of games I want that I just can’t afford right now. Not all of them are Sonic games either.

Watched it again. Shows some promise to be honest. Just wait and see I guess.

George, he likes games where you get to be a girl too. Golden Axe III had a panther guy though, so maybe you get some pussy in this too.

What I am worried about is the ‘nude’ scenes they promised. Like come on, “Beast Rider” ? This does not sound good and Ax Battler is no where to be found.

Right Kogen… that perfectly explains why I want Viking: Battle of Asgard.

I hope that’s going to be as good as the graphics upgrade looks!

I like that Sega are remaking soem of their franchises, I personally liked the new Sega Rally, so here’s hoping!

Didn’t III, The Duel, the Sega Ages remake and the PC-Engine game count as bad games?
