Sega hits a home run in Japan

For the last few weeks, in Japan, two titles have been battling it out over the pole postition, Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G (PSP) and Mario Kart Wii (Wii). However it was all change last week, when Sega released Let’s Make a Pro Baseball Team!
However it may not all be as great as it sounds.
While taking the number one position is always a good thing, it does tend to feel a little lackluster when the overall sales of games have (apparently) been lower than the norm in Japan. Let’s Make a Pro Baseball Team! came in first place with some 59,000 sales, only just pipping Monster Hunter, which had 51,000 sales. It could all change next week and the number one game might be selling at over 100,000 units.
Still, as I say, a good score for Sega. Always good to hear about a Sega game hitting number one, anywhere in the world, even if the game might be unknown elsewhere.
And just to be clear, the Japanese love their Baseball, so Sega doing well with a Baseball game isn’t hugely weird or anything.

It’s the best selling first week baseball game, but yes, next week it won’t be number one, whilst the Japanese may love baseball, next week’s title is GUNDAAAAAAM! (Or Super Robot Wars)
