Transfer your PSU characters to Phantasy Star Portable [Update]
While we’re all disappointed Phantasy Star Portable doesn’t have a true online mode like its console brethren, it will apparently allow you to go online to transfer your PS2/PC Phantasy Star Universe characters into the game, where they will then become fully playable in PSP.
This is a really smart move so players don’t have to start all the way over, but there is one small catch – there is a level cap of 20 and you can only transfer over equipped items and only 10,000 meseta, according to Siliconera.
Additionally, Sega will release downloadable missions for the PS2 and PC versions of PSU: Ambition of Illuminus where players work alongside Vivian, a character in Phantasy Star Portable. Sega hasn’t said if these features will come to the Xbox 360 version.
[Update: It seems there was a mixup in the translation, and you can’t carry over equipped weapons. Thanks for the correction, Espiokaos.]

Slight correction on one thing Siliconera got wrong. When you transfer your character data over to PSP from AOTI, your weapons will not carry over. The official site says only the clothes (or parts if you’re a CAST) that you’re wearing will transfer. In the “will not transfer” box of their table, it lists equipment and stored items (among other things such as partner machines, common box items and photon arts).

Some people are a bit upset by this, but considering how easy rare drops will become in this game, it shouldn’t be a problem to amass an impressive arsenal of weapons and line shields.
