Sega Game Endings: Golden Axe

by Chris on May 11th, 2008

[Editor’s note: Sega has developed a helluva lot of games during the last 20 or so years. Chances are, you haven’t been able to beat all of those games and may not have the time to go back and finish them off. So every Sunday, we’ll check out a different ending to a classic Sega game so you’ll at least know what happens at the end.]

It’s widely known that the arcade and Genesis version of Golden Axe had two different endings. The home version reveals the height/weight of every enemy and playable character, (except Tyris’ weight, that is; she is a lady, after all.), and then shows Gilius playing a game of baseball with the end credits.

The arcade version, on the other hand, is much cooler in that crushes your entire universe when you realize that all along you’re really just a kid playing a game at a local arcade. Think about that for a second - you’re playing a game, playing a game … wow, it’s just too much to wrap my head around!

Check out the arcade ending after the jump!

I hate the ending music from [GOLDEN AXE]. Is totally different from the hole stuff. The little girl running in the arcade version after tha arcade explodes is hilarious!!! I love it!!! HAHAHAHA!

I forgot how much money I have expended on this arcade to see this ending. LOL!

I sure love the sense of humor sega put into the end of this game, especially the arcade one (the video doesn’t appear to be here in this post, but it’s the first video that comes up if you search ‘golden axe ending’ on youtube).

Wow, something crazy happened to the coding. It’s fixed now.

That ending was lame. Boy, the music sure was horrible on those first generation Genesis games.
