Sega, Dynasty Gaming team up for new Chinese MMOs

If you thought any hope for a Chinese MMO died when Shenmue Online was unofficially canceled then you thought wrong. Because Sega of Japan and Dynasty Gaming announced a licensing agreement for several MMOs, and the first game under the agreement is already in closed testing, according to CNN.
“This represents the final step in the process to launch the first of our licensed ‘China Suite’ of Sega games; a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game to be known as Saga of the Three Kingdoms,” said Albert Barbusci, Dynasty Gaming CEO. “Testing will continue throughout May to ensure that the new Sega game meets all specifications for mainstream commercial operation in mainland China.”
Apparently, the game is based on a Japanese street game and will offer “unique elements of traditional Chinese culture, fashion and style in designing a fast-paced, exhilarating game of challenges and skills … the final product will engage Chinese players in a game of personalized role-playing that stimulates strategic thinking,” according to Sega.
Of course, this news won’t affect most of us, but it is nice to see Sega still has interests in China. Now the question is will Sega resurrect Shenmue Online?
