Meta-Review: Iron Man
When Sega released the Iron Man demo a few weeks back, many Sega Nerds weren’t exactly blown away, and now that the game has been released in North America and Europe, let’s take a look to see if other publications. Our review will be up in the next few days.
- GamePro scores it 45/100: “Any way you cut it, it’s just not worth the aggravation to play through what is just another botched licensed movie game. [June 2008, p.81]”
- PlayStation: The Official Magazine scores it 40/100: “The fact that I was constantly thinking about what button to push, even as I was rounding into the final set of missions, well…that’s just a big design no-no. [June 2008, p.72]”
- Gameplayer scores it 35/100: “This product is too crude for even the mainstream demographic; it can only possibly appeal to the ignorant.”
Wow, that’s pretty harsh, eh? I haven’t had the opportunity to play the full version, but I didn’t think the demo suggested that the game would be as bad as these review scores indicate. It certainly has to be better than one of Sega’s most horrific licensing offerings in The Golden Compass - that game was sheer donkey turds.
I guess the bright side is I’ve heard really good things about the movie. At least that’s good, right? If any of you have the game and are currently playing it, let us know - is it really that bad?

I still don’t understand how people can complain about the controls in the game.
They aren’t actually that difficult. It’s like noone has played a flight combat game - they can be just as ‘tricky’.
The game has plenty of issues. But I think people are just moaning about nothing here. The game isn’t that bad.
