Rumour: New NiGHTS and Skies of Arcadia to be shown at Sega Gamer’s Day?
A recent article on German Sega fansite, SEGA On, has a lineup of games that are said to be shown at this years Sega Gamer’s Day in May.
The list contains many games already announced, but also contains a few surprises:

- GOLDEN AXE BEAST RIDER
- NEW ETERNAL ARCADIA (TENTATIVE)
- NEW NiGHTS (TENTATIVE)
- SAMBA DE AMIGO 2008 (TENTATIVE)
- SONIC CHRONICLES: THE DARK BROTHERHOOD
- SONIC UNLEASHED PREVIEW
- SPACE SIEGE
- STORM CHASER
- SUPER MONKEY BALL FOR iPhone (TENTATIVE)
- THE CRUCIBLE: EVIL WITHIN
- THE INCREDIBLE HULK — THE VIDEOGAME
The two most noteable titles on the list have to be “New NiGHTS” and “New Eternal Arcadia” (better known as Skies of Arcadia in the west).
Rumours for a Skies of Arcadia 2 game have been circling the Internet for a good few years now, could this year be the first time that some light is shed upon the sequel?
As for a new NiGHTS… well it is quite a surprise, to say the least. It took Sonic Team a good 10 years to finally make a sequel to the Saturn classic, so it would be quite a shock to see a new game so soon after Journey of Dreams. Though many are speculating that this could be the fabled Xbox 360/PS3 game, that was rumoured when JoD was first announced last year.
Even though the source Sega On has used tends to be accurate, we are still treating this a rumour - better safe than sorry, eh?
Well hopefully we shall find out more within the next month or so. For more information here is a translated (using Google) version of Sega On.

I don’t like [ETERNAL ARCADIA] and it’s strange this list don’t have [IRON MAN] on it.
For a new [NIGHTS], I think Sega could release it on PS3/XB360, WITHOUT Takashi Iizuka!!

The Iron Man game comes out before SEGA’s Gamer Day, Iron Man coming out around 2nd May 2008, and the Gamer Day around 10th May 2008, that’s why it’s not on the list.
Also, I agree about the Iizuka point!

NiGHTS 3? Yeah… I don’t really care this time around. I say they should just release the original on the XBLA or something.
As for New Eternal Arcadia… first of all, hopefully it isn’t a remake or any crap like that, either way I’ll get it the second it’s out.
Hopefully they show something about Golden Axe that will make it look at least semi decent.

A new Skies of Arcadia would be the next best thing to a new Shenmue…
Of course a new Sega console would trump all of this, but I’m trying to be realistic.

No really, this news doesn’t suprise me in the slightest (most probably because I’ve been hearing about it for something like 2 years now). If they’ve actualy physicaly been working on it as long as they’ve been TALKING about it, then it might actualy ‘look’ decent.
Not promising it will not control like a horses ass though.
God why is it so difficult to copy something GREAT that already exists?? *bangs head into wall*

Quarterman from EGM reported a possible Skies sequel a month or so ago. He’s pretty accurate, so I definately believe that there is a Skies sequel in the works. Will it be announced at this conference? I sure hope so!

Why not an Eternal Arcadia prequel?… you know, the ancient civilisations in all their glory fighting with giant guardian monsters… but I love naval fighting so a sequel would be great too
