Rumour: Sega makes a deal with House of the Dead fans

According to JeuxFrance, Sega has made a very tidy proposition to all House of the Dead fans and Wii owners.
It seems that Sega is using the upcoming House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return title, as a tester for the Wii’s fan base for lightgun games. But more importantly, it is a test for House of the Dead games.
Should House of the Dead 2&3 Return sell well enough, Sega has said they will also bring across House of the Dead 4, plus Typing of the Dead to the Nintendo console.
“The owners of Wii can request for the success of House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return. Indeed, according to Sega, if the title is sold rather well in the world, the editor would plan to offer to the console house of the Dead 4 and very atypical Typing of the Dead. You know what it remains you to do.”

Right now we are treating this news as a rumour, as JeuxFrance has not supplied any quotes or links to help back up the claims. But Sega has said, in the past, that should the demand be high enough for the House of the Dead series, as the above video shows, then it could be very possible.

I hope it’s true! I’d like to see
House of the Dead 1 & 4 Return!
and Typing of the Dead collection with 1 and 2!

Its bullshit. HOTD 4 can’t run on the Wii.

What makes you say that Jonboy?
Ghost Squad uses the same Lindbergh board in the arcade, and that works fine on the Wii.
I could see HotD 4 working well enough on the Wii - but with perhaps a slight reduction in the graphics department (like with Ghost Squad).

I could see House of the Dead 4, but Typing of the Dead? How will that work?

No, G, your wrong, your thinking about Ghost Squad Evolution. The original Ghost Squad was made for the Sega Chihiro and that’s the one that was ported over to the Wii.

Though not saying House of the Dead 4 isn’t possible, just wanted to inform you the version of Ghost Squad ported was the original.

Frack it, i’d perfer to see a REAL port of the original HOTD included in this game, it would have guaranteed sales at least among some of the sega hardcore. HOTD4 i’d rather see it on a system that won’t comprimise the game, a decent port or no port at all, i’ve already experienced a HOTD game which made too many comprimises just to see it on console and that was the first one, if it can’t handle it don’t bother at all.
If Dreamcast couldn’t “handle” a port of VF4 back in the day then why should the Wii get HOTD4 when its not going to do it justice.

Angelo - you would use a Keyboard. Wii supports USB keyboards - used for Internet, but I’d imagine it would work with games too.
Aki-At whoops, yes my mistake. But after playing both Ghost Squad and Ghost Squad Evolution in the arcade (for years now) - I could never see much of a difference in graphics tbh - evolution looked a little more polished to me - that’s about it.
And ROJM - I think the only downgrade would be graphics, which I don’t think is too huge a deal. Ghost Squad on the Wii is a fantastic game, much more enjoyable than the arcade versions - the extra modes, weapons and routes make up for any loss of detail.
-Of course I could be wrong and maybe Jonboy is right, HotD4 might not work on the Wii - but I don’t see why it couldn’t.

Have you played HOTD4? There’s more going on in a second than what happens in the whole of Mario Galaxy. There is NO way this game should go to the wii, i want an arcade perfect port of HOTD4 not a downgraded version.

Well Mario Galaxy and HotD 4 are VERY different games.
I’d argue that it is easier to put more on screen in an on-rails shooter than a full 3D platforming game.
Heck. There’s more going on in HotD3 than Mario Galaxy - the first level of HotD3 has tons of enemies on screen, charging at you, wave after wave.
Just about the only real concern would be the HUGE bosses you face in HotD4 - like that giant in the streets.
But usually the bosses are pretty much the only thing on screen when you fight them.

What pisses me off is that this is just a port of the port they made on the Xbox. I already have The House of the Dead on Saturn, HOD2 on Dreamcast and HOD2&3 on Xbox. I don’t know if I need the same thing on the Wii. I would much rather have a HOD Collection of ports that are as close to the originals as possible. I like the Wii, but what concerns me more than graphics is control. The Wii’s CMOS cameras aren’t nearly accurate nor sensitive enough for lightgun games. I played Ghost Squad on the Wii (For the first time and loved it) but having to use cursor aiming just so I can be accurate enough to NOT hit the hostages, really killed the arcade feel. I would love (Although I know it won’t happen) to have HOD 1 thru 4 on the Xbox 360 with some SEGA Arcade guns. From the looks of it though, I will have to settle for the Wii.
As far as HOD4 running on the Wii, It would have to have lower res textures and a lower frame rate among other things, But I’m sure it could run it. It’s more powerful than most people give it credit, especially those damn developers that keep porting PS2 games to it.

Well, from screenshots, Wii can’t handle even House of the dead 3 (based on Chihiro board/xbox), so how can the wii handle a Lindbergh game like House of the dead 4 without huge graphics cut?
In any case, I will not buy a collection of downgraded version of game that I played many years ago…
So Sega, c’mon and bring Houde 4 on Xbox 360 and make a new Sega official lightgun.

While I would also like an arcade perfect port to come out of house of the dead 4, I would also like to see a version for the Wii. I do not want to have to one buy another console and end up purchasing a separate light gun peripheral…even if I do slightly prefer lightguns. The wii has set it self up as the console of choice for lightgun(on rails shooters) games (sans lightgun of course). Sega please bring on house of the dead one, even if it is graphically worse. Make it an unlockable or just add it to typing of the dead to make a more complete package. In addition please Sega release a Virtua Cop package.

In what ways wouldn’t the Wii be able to handle HotD4?
In general, it seems like the Wii is given no credit due to all the hype surrounding the 360 (despite RRoD) and PS3.

are you kidding house of the dead 4 for Wii! I hope this does’nt mean that the house of the dead 4 will only come out for the Wii and not Xbox 360 like it was supposed to. The house of the dead series is one of my favorite video game series of all time I’d hate to see it only coming out for the Wii. that is’nt happening is it?

Well, who’s to say that House of the Dead 4 won’t work on the Wii? HotD 3 in 2&3 Return is actually handled rather well on the Wii, despite the game’s (slightly) dated graphics. If you really want to test the Wii’s graphic handling capabilities, take a look at Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. At any rate, if HotD 4 is really to be released on Wii (like they said, depending on the sales of HotD 2&3 Return), I hope it is released on more than just the Wii (if only to keep the bloodthirsty console fanboys from ripping each other apart).

i would like to see HOTD 4 on the wii, i think the graphics would be perfect on the wii, plus i think it’s going on the xbox360 and the xbox360 version probably would have better graphics than the wii plus it might be easier for the xbox360 cause lightguns for the wii are hard to use sometimes but if they put a uzi lightgun for xbox360, might be easier, cause while using a wii lightgun, u gotta aim it at the sensor which gets annoying sometimes not always but sometimes, and it could be bullshit but with the xbox360, just pointing at the screen with the gun would be alot better.
