Gladiators, Sega Saturns and 90’s haircuts

For many of you who don’t live in the UK, you won’t realise that one of the best saturday night television shows of the 90’s is set for a come back, Gladiators!
The UK show is similar to the US version of the show (which I have just heard also came back earlier this year!)…. but with more colourful and tighter fitting spandex, it seems. Which is what every show needs :)
Anyway, in light of the fantastic news, that I might be able to watch as people beat each other with giant cotton buds (qtips to you yanks) I decided to dig up as many old videos and pictures that I could of the original Gladiators show (UK version), and I found something even better.
What you see, in the video above, is a clip from the brilliant Bad Influence! show, with presenter Andy Crane. It was a show in the 90’s about gaming, aimed at kids and young adults. As you can see from the clip, this particular episode, we have two of the UK Gladiators (actually two of the least popular) playing on 3 different Saturn titles - Virtua Cop, Virtua Fighter 2 and Sega Rally.
A little factoid for you: One of the presenters, Violet Berlin, has appeared in several computer games, as herself, including the hugely successful MicroMachines 2. Ahhh, the memories….

Q-tips is a brand name. The proper term is ‘cotton swabs.’
