The last unannounced character in Sega Superstars Tennis has been revealed, and it’s none other than Gilius Thunderhead from Golden Axe. Total Video Games had an interview with the boys at Sumo Digital; here is the interesting information from the interview:

Gamersyde has posted videos of the mini-games, gameplay, and a interview with Steve Lycett. IGN has posted four gameplay videos for the Xbox 360 version.

“…the DS is more flexible in this department.”

Meaning there’s a chance the DS version will have online multiplayer? holy crap 8D

I can NOT wait for this game, the only thing I am saddened to see is the lack of some of my favorite Sega characters, like Ecco, Vectorman, Ryo, Ristar, et cetera. It’s possible for the 360 and Playstation 3 versions to have download content, so… is there some way we can force Sumo to add in our favorites?

If theres a downloadable level I am pretty sure it’ll be a Rez court though.

The game looks to be top notch, I cannot wait for this game it just has so much awesome fan service that any one who has ever owned a Sega console would be a FOOL not to pick it up, even if your not a big fan of tennis.

But I will agree with roster is a bit low when you take into account Segas classic characters…

It could have done with another 16 on top of that to be honest, I hope they go onto make a party fighter in the vain of POWER STONE 2!

They did say that there would be unlockable characters, did they not? So there’s still a chance for Vectorman, Ristar, etc. to be. I really hope they make a fighter. With all of the classic music they’ve culled, they could easily produce something of the quality of Smash Bros., and that, but with Sega, would be really, really fantastic.

The SIZE of the roster is fine, honestly. When rosters for games like this get much bigger, you either end up with a bunch of clones or horrible balance. I’m mainly disappointed that Amy and Shadow made it in instead of Knuckles. I was really hoping for some ToeJam and Earl too, but Alex Kidd and Golden Axe Guy are satisfying enough for me.

aaaaw no ryo, seeing how there’s a house of the dead stage (with not very cartoony zombies) i really dont get why they say he wasnt cartoony enough. hope they’re some unlockable burning rangers charas

No Ryo cuz he wasn’t cartoony enough?,

so what are those The House Of The Dead stuff
or I am sure that Gilius won’t be cartoony enough in
SEGA’s upcoming Golden Axe games too!

Let’s don’t make excuses by saying Ryo was not … or was …

You can simply make a cartoony version of Ryo
or at least you can add some tiny Shenmue related stuff to this game.

Anyway at least you’ve considered Ryo,
so thank you for this but be sure that many Shenmue fans who
aren’t SEGA fans can ignore this game from now.

Wait didint they ‘cartooned’ the virtual fighters up for virtual quest? come on, they could had done that with ryo no problem. They are using real looking characters on the background of the outrun stage after all.

“They would like to do more Sega Superstars games including a racer or brawler.”

It would be cool if they made a brawler could you imagine if the brawler got popular then they might have a chance to invite some characters from other companies like Nintendo have done with Smash Bro’s.

But in saying that i would much rather AM2 develope a new Fighters Megamix game then have SUMO develope a game that ends up being a Smash Bro’s clone….

A racer would also be intersting but i would probably still prefer a brawler they need to think of something different though imo something that hasn’t been done…lol

farmer pancho, they didn’t make Virtua Fighters cartoony for Virtua Quest. Though they did do it for Virtua Fighter Kids

This is the one of the first gameswhere I am counting down to the release date since the good old Genesis days. I counted down to Endless Ocean (which is pretty great), but this game will (hopefully) be 100 times better. 98% chance I will be buying this on release day. The only thing that disappoints me is the Wii’s lack of onlineness (online play, downloadable content). It almost makes me want a 360…

No Ryo? Sigh…. I wanted a Streets of Rage character, too….

Can’t wait for this though, and the eventual sequels that follow up. However, if their going to make Sega Superstar Fighters, Ryo better be included.
