by George on February 15th, 2008

Seems like we just got Virtua Fighter 5 version C, but Sega has just announced Virtua Fighter 5 R. The new ‘expansion’ will add new stages and fighters, one being the long lost Taka-Arashi. This hasn’t been announced for consoles yet, but don’t be surprised if its announced at E3 or TGS.

Hit the jump to check out some of the screenshots.

[Thanks, Yu Suzuki!]

I don’t like the entire forums getting credited for Yu Suzuki’s research.

Rad. VF4, as amazing as it was, always felt incomplete to me because Takashi was taken out.

I’d love it if they threw Siba in as well, since he was originally planned to be a VF character.

Shiba was just a prototype character.
    He use also a sword… :D

Great, the return of Taka Arashi, now make Ryo Hazuki as an alternative version of Dural, new quest mode, enhanced online mode, 360 version, and it’ll be perfect :)

Cube, you retard. SEGA announced this to the public. SEGA told everyone, not a forum member.

I’ve seen lots of SEGA news before it was posted, but I don’t give a shite since I didn’t make the news.

Also I’m wondering; would this be a downloadable expansion or a budget release like Evo was? I want it to be downloadable, but the second option seems like it’d sell more copies. Maybe they could do both.

I still recall getting Virtua Fighter 4: Evo for the PS2 back in 2003 for $20.

Also, I’d say a mix of both(This is to Kogen). Downloadable for those who own the game, and budget release for those who don’t.

    Good!VERY GOOD!!Taka Arashi,karate guy and…where is the capoeirista?LOL!

GameWatch says the “R” on the title, means “Rival”,”Reality”,”Returns” and more something…

    Hmm…very interesting;D

Yay! Taka’s back. The screenshots I see with Akira’s custom costume makes me think of a Virtua Fighter vs. Street Fighter game.

I’m guessing that evil Goh look-alike is a girl, considering “she” seems to be wearing a sports bra underneath.

    I’m certain that’s still him.

    VF5 couldn’t sell very well?
then no problem…just add some tiny features to it
and release it with a new title on more consoles
or on the same console again.

(This is what CAPCOM always do and no one dares to buy them)

So, thanks you SEGA for VF5 R.
(Now how about Shenmue I+II R on XBL or PSN?)

I’m always satisfied to hear that AM-2’s up to something, and its always nice to hear that Sega’s grown some balls and is milking their games. This is the third Virtua Fighter 5 we’ve seen so far.
