Exclusive: Mario & Sonic Olympics (DS) screenshots

Mario & Sonic DS Exclusive

Just sent over from Sega Europe are 10 new in-game screenshots for Mario and Sonic Olympics, for the DS.  Now, we are told that these particular screens are, in fact, exclusive to Sega Nerds.

[Update: I should perhaps add that these screens will cater more for our European members.  As the game is already out in the US, and certain members (well just Kogen ;) ) like to be miserable and bring good news down]

These screens, show off one of the Dream Events, the Dream Race, from the game.

And these screens are showing off the Hammer Throw.  The bane of my experience for the Wii version (I can rarely get it to go straight… the hammer that is)

I have to say, I’m looking forward to this game quite a bit.  The Wii version was pretty damn great - actually shockingly great, I certainly didn’t expect it to be so much fun.  And the DS version is shaping up to look just as enjoyable.

Its not out in Europe Kogen…

Try to the brighter side here, we are getting exclusive content.

    Kogen is full of ATTITUDE!!!!

Can’t you tell that this is an article in jest? An exclusive batch of screens for a game already out?

Anyway, I’ll never understand how they got the DS version to look almost identical to the Wii one. It’s pure magic.

So? It’s the same game. It’s not exclusive when it’s being sold to the public.

Actually I didn’t read it, Radrappy, but it doesn’t seem like a joke.

Not a joke. Just in good humor.

Also the screens are exclusive. Nothing else.

My point was simply this: I could go buy this game and send you the exact same screenshots. It’s not news worthy.

Well, to be fair, you do have to unlock Dream Race. (Shame that doesn’t have more courses, but the Olympics aren’t Mario Kart… yet! The ball’s in your court, London!)

Shall we just erase all the world apart from America so Kogen will be happy?

Should I even reply to that?

They’re not exclusive screenshots, they’re a waste of space. The game is out in Japan too.

They are exclusive screenshots. Take it as a good sign we were given such to give to SN.

I’m sure we can discuss the annoyance of staggered global releases another day - but until then…

I can understand where Kogen is coming from. But if a company making a game (developing or publishing) sends out particular screenshots to a site/magazine, and only said site/mag - then I’d say they still are exclsuive, regardless of whether the game has been released in another region.

Think of all the US sites/mags which talk about exclusive content - when a game has been out in Japan for months.
Or take The Club. We have had it in Europe for a week (or is it two now) - Yet I saw a site claiming to have some form of exclusive on the game just the other day.

I understand you Kogen, but I’d still say you’re wrong. But as Archangel says, perhaps we shoudl discuss the issues with global releases another time.
